Point Discounts For On Board Cruise Reservations

I just returned home from the Wonder and found out some news. According to the on board booking agent Disney Cruise lines and the DVC are trying to work out an on board booking deal that will save up to 50% on points for all Disney Cruises that are booked while on board. We have already booked a 7 day on the Magic for next January for about half price. There was only a 20 point savings if I used points ; so I just paid cash. Does anyone else have further information on this potential point blockbuster deal?

When you say you got 1/2 off the cash rate, can you elaborate. Is that half off the regular January 2004 fare? Is it for certain cabins?

I will only believe a "points deal" when I see it. The way the cruise for points charts have increased in recent years makes me skeptical about a 50% savings offer. Hope it's true, it would bring the points cruise cost to a reasonable level.

Maybe the SS member cruisers can check this out?

Our rate was $3100 for 2 adults and 2 5 year olds. This is for level 6 in January 2004.

$3100 is a really good price for cat. 6. How far out was the special good for? Did they also offer any shipboard credit, too? I might take a 4 night cruise with points and then book a 7 night cruise on this special.

I think this was only for the member cruise. We cruised in December and wanted to book for next December but could not because it was not 11 months out. (waited until Jan. then booked for 2003) anyhow they were not offering anything to us unless you were within the 11 month window and even then it was only like ten points off . No cash discounts, no shipboard credit.
