I am usually points poor but now I need help.
I do not think I will be using my points for a couple years.

1) For Transfering to another member:
I have 4 small point contracts (under one membership number),,is it one transfer per membership per year OR one transfer per contract per year ?
Would you try transferring them yourself or use a Broker?

2) For points expiring in Aug,,do I have any options?
Not a huge amount (25) and I can accept the loss.
Do you think anyone would be interested in them?

3) Going forward is it 50% of each contract OR 50% of total membership points that can be banked forward?

Thank-you for any help you can offer.
Mel

One transfer per membership number in or out per year.

Exceptions have been made, but mostly for members transferring between their own membership numbers and even that is closely guarded.

Borrowing has been capped at 50% of an upcoming reservation. No caps have been placed on banking. Regular banking rules apply unless a reservation is in play with those points outside the normal banking window AND the reservation is cancelled because of official closure.

So that means only one of my 4,,, 50 point contracts per year can be transfered NOT 200 combined points?

Thanks

Not correct. If contracts all have same use year month, all such contracts are under one membership number, and you can transfer up to all 200 points, but you can do only one transfer per use year. You will notice in your online contract information that each contract has the same member number with the only difference that DVC adds a .1, .2, etc. to that number as new contracts are purchased

If all of your contracts are under the same membership, you should be able to transfer all 200. You just have to transfer them all in one transaction.

This is the first time I have been Joyous in weeks!
Yes they are all same use year and same membership number.
Thank-You

After refunding a renter and losing points for last March (I did a dedicated reservation rental via David's DVC Rental,,due to medical surgery I needed),I never want to rent out again.
Transfering seems so much safer.
Thanks for everyone's help.

If DVC store or another broker helps out the member with points transfers (member needs money so it would be a transfer to another DVC member), how much per point does the member receive? How much per point does the broker receive? How long before you get paid for your transferred points?

Depends on the broker. You'd either have to get that info from their website or give them a call or maybe fill out their form.

Not a current owner, but seriously considering if there's a price drop so figuring out all the ins and outs now. The pdf posted by CarolMN says down at the bottom "Members are prohibited from receiving compensation for engaging in any transferring of Vacation Points."

Yet, clearly, receiving money for transferred points is a common thing which seems to be in violation of that. Would someone please tell me if there's a loophole or if I'm just not understanding this properly?

Thank you very much!

Because points have no actual value...they are a means to represent a fractional share of ownership...DVC will not get involved between two owners who transfer points since we are not supposed to be paid for them,

If one calls and MS hears money is changing hands, many CMs won’t process,

So, if an owner transfers, and a payment fell through, the owner would reall have no recourse In seeking DVCs help
