Hi,

My two daughters are travelling on their own next year, and have requested cameras for Christmas. I have a Panasoic Lumix TZ7, that I love the functions on it (food setting and night portraits). The only thing that bugs me is that I can not upload photos straight away, so use my phone camera for Facebook etc.

I would like to try and get point and shoots with wifi access, and would love recommendations from anyone who has one.

Have you looked at the eye-fi cards? It may fit what you need if you can't find a camera you like that has wi-fi built in.

I'd go to dpreview.com and do a search for cameras with wi-fi built in to start my search.

Thanks Danielle.

My Sony HX30 has built in WiFi, but it "just" wirelessly transfers pictures to a computer, phone (Droid or iPhone), or a TV for viewing.
I do use the WiFi to transfer to phone then upload to Facebook from the phone, but it is not a super easy process (changing the iPhone to use the camera as a wifi hotspot, then open the Sony app)

You might want to look into an Android based phone. There are now at least 2 point and shoots running an Android operating system, and they have built in Facebook (and more) apps. There's a Nikon s800c and Samsung Galaxy phone.

Thanks for he feedback re ease of use (or lack thereof).

Eye-Fi. Period.

Two mentions for Eye-Fi - I had heard about this product - not sure if we can get it in Australia yet - I will start searching.

I have had an eye fi card shipped to Australia, via amazon. Takes a bit of fiddling but it works a treat, I can upload to my phone or iPad in the field and then they forward to my pc as well.

It creates its own network so you don't need an Internet connection in the field for it to send to the iPad (I only have a wifi version) - then when I have wifi I can upload to Facebook etc.

Or I can choose to send to my phone and upload straight away - (I like viewing on the iPad screen)
