i'm over from the teen board and i couldn't stand their ignorance...

anti-war protestors?
i hope you saw the images on tv today. u know- the ones of the all the iraqi civilians in baghdad cheering in the streets alongside US tanks rolling down the block. the images of the iraqi's running up to US troops and kissing them. or when they toppled down the big huge statue of saddam and were throwin stuff at it, kicking it. or how bout them burning pictures of saddam and hoisting up posters of bush? did u see those?

so anti-war protestors, let me ask u-
how r u feelin now? there really isn't much u can say against these blatant images, so i suggest you just shrug your shoulders and say "You were right; these people really DO want to be liberated, contrary to the opinion of a few ******** protestors."

or perhaps you can act like the iraqi information minister and say that there are absolutely no troops in baghdad and u don't know what i'm talkin about.

april 9th 03, the historical day of iraqi liberation.

There's nothing to debate about this. You are absolutely right.

so what do we tell the people of Syria and Iran and Libya and the West Bank ...

we have achieved our military objective, but have we really achieved our goals?

if we don't take care of the rest of the mess ...

And this is referring to the time you consistently missed everyone's point over 100 pages, and told us we weren't looking at the facts because we didn't watch Fox News? There was an awful lot of frustration at other people's ignorance on that thread.

Mostly remorse at the death of thousands of people. I do think the liberation of Iraq is a wonderful thing, but I still don't think a war on Iraq was the right thing to do.

I also saw images of dying children, who'd lost all their families, and innocent people who'd had their homes destroyed. They didn't appear to me celebrating too much.

Yes, because that's a valid point that brings much to the debate.

Eh.... you're right, there's nothing to debate, it's been done to death, and I'm sure no one needed to hear that on our 'victory day'. But to be called ignorant by someone whose main form of argument is twisting other people's words bothered me. Carry on.

We can't fix that part of the World overnight, but we've put a very good foot forward. You're right that we can't rest and let down our guard with respect to the goals. But at least you can take some comfort in the fact that a big pipeline of money flowing into Hamas has had the tap shut off.

PigSoldier,

I too mourn for the lost innocents, but the losses don't hold a candle in comparison to the toll Saddam's murder machine would have extracted if left unchecked. It's a good thing, one philosopher said, that we view war as a horror, for disaster would result if it no longer turned our stomaches and we developed an appetite for it instead.

One final point... you said "our victory". I'd call it the victory of the Iraqi people.

Did you not see the DEAD KURDISH CHILDREN AND FAMILIES, gassed by Saddam, years ago??

And probably untold thousands of other innocent people systematically exterminated by Saddam and his goons over the past 24 years.

Are they not important?

The bottom line is that this war saved sooo many more lives than it killed. Is it worth killing say 1,000 civilians to save hundreds of thousands? OF COURSE!

But the lives we saved is not even the best thing we did, we freed people from the wrath of a ruthless dictator!

U S A! What a proud day, I can't remember a day that I have felt more proud to be an American. This is one of the most generous acts I have ever seen.

If you can't see past the relatively few dead from this war when you compare to the deaths Saddam has and would have caused then you are blinded by your own biases.

What a great day for not only the USA and Britain, but for DEMOCRACY!

Saddam is out like Ja Rule in a battle with Eminem.

"Mostly remorse at the death of thousands of people. I do think the liberation of Iraq is a wonderful thing, but I still don't think a war on Iraq was the right thing to do"

It's a shame the only way to liberate Iraq was through military force, but it was. I feel horrible for the civilians who lost their lives, but the good of the many outweighs the good of the few.

"I also saw images of dying children, who'd lost all their families, and innocent people who'd had their homes destroyed. They didn't appear to me celebrating too much."

Did you see the images of the children that were freed from Hussein's PRISONS??

And those whose homes were destroyed, at least they can rebuild now without looking over their shoulder to see if the Fedayeen is breathing down their necks. In the long run, they will be celebrating.

"and I'm sure no one needed to hear that on our 'victory day'."

Ahhhhh...... but it isn't OUR victory day.... it's IRAQ'S LIBERATION DAY- That's the POINT!!

Yes I saw those images and I agree that Saddam needed to go but I dont think war was the way. I won't waste my energy typing the reasons why again because you think they're ignorant.

Rose, we have tried diplomatic means for 12 years and it is sad that we waited so long to use military action. We let many years of Iraqi lives waste away under Saddam. Hail GWB & Tony Blair for finally taking decisive action that makes the world a safer and more democratic place.

I'm very interested in hearing how you would remove a ruthless dictator such as Saddam without military action....

Soooooooooo, what DO you think was the way????

Easy to say "War is not the answer" -- let's see YOU come up with a solution.

Let's see, should we just POLITELY ask Saddam to leave????

So you've come up with a solution that the UN could not come up with in 12 years?

I actually said I am not going to type the reasons why I dont think we should have gone to war, not I have a solution other than war.

Right . . . When you do come up with something useful and constructive, do let us know, OK?

I wouldn't say you are ignorant because your opinion differs from that of Wick, its because your opinion is wrong. The absence of war does not equal the presence of peace. Sometimes war IS the answer.

Many people are fond of saying "War is not the answer." War never solved anything... except ending slavery, facism, nazism and communism.

When dealing with evil, violent people or governments, force is the only language they understand.

The peaceniks are simply deluded fools.

No you are ignorant because you are uninformed on the issues and your solutions have rarely, if ever, resulted in resolution of any situation equivalent to what we have in Iraq.

If you read the thread that we had on the TB you would see that anyone who was against the war were told that the reasons behind their beliefs were false. How can you say that something is false when you can see it with your own eyes? If Suzi and Emma see innocent people dying (not personally, but on TV), then they can believe whatever they want to. People have different views, why can't we just leave it at that and not try to persuade them into believing something they don't?
