Anyone have experience with POFQ water view vs standard view? Do you think it's worth the money to upgrade? Especially since there is a walkway between the window and outdoors, and you don't have a private balcony.

Thanks!

IMO....not worth it at all....
like you said there is no balcony or chairs.

You would see the water on the way to your room....plus the rooms on the
"water" could be the farthest walk at the resort.

Besides if your right by the ferry....you'll probably hear them.

Thank you!!! This is my first time at POFQ and I'm really excited. Any recommendations on buildings to ask for, or should I just let them put me wherever? I know I do want to ask for top floor because I don't want to be on the ground floor with people walking by, and I also don't want to have people walking on my head. :)

I always pay for waterview at the mods, just to ensure that I dont end up with a parking lot view.

We have stayed at POFQ a few times and have always asked for a room in building 5 courtyard view. It is a lovely view of the fountain and courtyard. I love to get up in the morning and sit out there with a cup of coffee while the rest of my family is getting dressed. Our last stay we had a pool view. It was quiet but I loved having the courtyard view better. Building 5 is close to the food court, pool, laundry, and the river is right behind it. We walk over to POR for breakfast and to use the boats. I love this resort, it is one of my favorites.

Thank you!!! I'm going to ask for that! I hope they don't get snotty with me. When we stayed at Yacht Club I asked for a certain type of room and let's just say, "special orders DID upset them". I got a snotty attitude plus they put me in the opposite of what I asked for! I asked really nicely, too!:confused3

We had a river view room last summer. I really enjoyed it. Very pretty and my kids loved watching to boats go by. I requested river, the pool is open into the evening and I knew some nights we would be going to bed early after long days at the parks. It was worth the money to me.

Especially since there is a walkway between the window and outdoors, and you don't have a private balcony.

For this reason, I don't believe water view at a moderate is ever worth the extra cash. If I'm in a moderate room, I don't have the curtains open. Too many people walking by and looking in.

If you care a lot about what you see whenever you step outside the door, then go for it.

We always fax a note to the resort three days before arriving and make a room request. There has only been a couple times that we did not get what we asked for. We keep the request short and sweet and then hope for the best and the resort has always tried to accomodate us.

I would save the money and not go for a water view.

Not worth it. Especially since, at POFQ (don't know about others), "water view" can also mean you'll be looking at a pool. Well, it's water, so I guess it qualifies.

In my opinion, the best thing to do is stay with a standard view, and when you arrive ask for an upgrade.

It works almost every time, plus you save the upgrade fee.

It all comes down to:

If your going to spend a lot of time in the parks, the standard room does you the best, and the free upgrade would be a bonus.

If you spent a lot of time in your room however, a water view would be quite nicer, and worth the extra to have it guaranteed.

You can still request a non-parking lot view as one of your 1st/most important requests and pay for standard...when we do not drive I do not want to look at a parking lot the entire time I am there so I simply request it on my reservation and it has always been honored...in the case the resort was very booked, I guess there would be a chance you would have to take a parking lot view if they had nothing else.

I've had both, the water view to me wasn't worth it. The boats will not keep you awake, they stop running at 11pm. Course, I don't travel with young kids, so maybe that's just me. It's a very small resort and very beautiful. You could always ask at check in if there is a "river view" available. I don't know if more people request them or not. Last time I sent a fax for building 3, fountain view. Only problem is you can't see the fountain from the 3rd floor. Just be sure to inform them you do not want a parking lot view.

Sure, we could simply request it, but I would rather pay extra to guarantee we dont end up looking at a parking lot. The upcharge really isnt that much anyways and by paying for waterview, it allows us to request King upon arrival. :thumbsup2 I know it doesnt make sense to most people, but we actually do spend alot of time in our room, so paying the upcharge makes sense for us.

We don't usually pay for the water view at the mods because, like you said, there is not a private balcony. We leave the curtains closed almost all the time because we don't want people to see in the room. Not much point in paying for a view I'm not going to look at. :)

Well, we had a preferred room at CBR and we looked at a parking lot, that was right next to the bus stop and the noise did in fact keep us up. So, we decided to ask for a water view at POFQ, hopefully we will get a river view, but the pool would be ok.

When we arrived at CBR, our waterview ended up being of the quiet pool. We didnt realize that until we got to the room and I promptly called the front desk and asked if we could be moved to a "beachfront" waterview. Within a few minutes, we were moving to a beautiful waterfront, corner, king room =)

We had a parking lot view at POFQ last April.

Which meant for the few seconds it took us to walk in and out of our door, we saw the parking lot quite a distance away, through trees and landscaping. It was not a problem.

The benefit of the parking lot view was that we were on the backside of the building. It was SO QUIET! We loved it. We walked past all the rooms on the front side of the building and kept thinking how much we would have hated all the people walking past US! They had a nicer view.....but also all the walk by traffic.

There are benches along the river if you want to sit and enjoy the view. You can also sit near the fountains in the courtyards. There are plenty of ways to enjoy the views without paying extra.
