POFQ: Water view worth the $$?

I've almost always booked standard rooms, particlularly at PO since there's no balcony to use. As the one in the family who gets up early (the curse of waking up at 4:00AM everyday to go to work), I usually go out and bring breakfast back. I take the long way and walk along the water and sit on the benchs for 10-15 minutes, sometimes with a book and coffee. Very relaxing and peaceful in the early AM.

Based on our Pool-View experience at PopC (paid for standard), i would not pay extra to get a pool-view, too noisy. The only time we got gipped with a standard view was at the Contemporary. We had a Garden Wing and had no balcony and the view was of the parking lot, obscured by the monorail pillars. Our standard view at the WL overlooked the Villas but had the woods as well.

I personally would not spring for the additional $$ unless you are at one of the deluxes where there would be a difference in your balcony experience.

My favorite rooms are the standard rooms near the food court facing the courtyard (about rooms 413x or so) - so convenient and charming location. The river is really nice but I wouldn't choose it here. On the other hand, it its something you want, its not too much extra.

My fav is building 2...top floor.
right near the pool and ferry....had a beautiful CY view.
short walk to food court.

just request top floor, quiet location....and you'll be fine.
happy planning

Many of the waterviews at POFQ are not all that great. Personally, I like to look out on the beautiful gardens and fountains. I also like to be close to the main building -- not that anything is all that distant at POFQ.

Well, we had a preferred room at CBR and we looked at a parking lot, that was right next to the bus stop and the noise did in fact keep us up. So, we decided to ask for a water view at POFQ, hopefully we will get a river view, but the pool would be ok.

When we arrived at CBR, our waterview ended up being of the quiet pool. We didnt realize that until we got to the room and I promptly called the front desk and asked if we could be moved to a "beachfront" waterview. Within a few minutes, we were moving to a beautiful waterfront, corner, king room =)
"Preferred" at CBR is different from the other Moderate resorts. There, it means the two villages adjacent to Old Port Royale - EVERYTHING else is merely a request.

And water means water. While sure, Guests can refuse a room where their interpretation of a given view does not coincide with the hotel operator's, the Guest has no actual recourse if they wanted a 'beachfront' room but got one overlooking the pool instead.

Exactly, that's why I was so pleased that they graciously moved us. Granted, the view of the quiet pool was almost completely obstructed by bushes, so I would have strongly suggested they move us, but I didnt have to, as they offered to move us after I simply told them that we were hoping for a beach front room. I even went so far as to ask for a King while she was looking and she obliged.... One of the main reasons CBR will always be one of my faves.
