I know this is actually one resort but I'm torn between what one to actually "sleep" at. I think there is more stuff for my DD14 and DS4 to do at POR but I like the quaintness and small size of POFQ. I know it's a short walk from POFQ to POR but I'm being to think that we may be spending most of our resort time at POR. The resort certainly is the best of both worlds, so to speak! Which do you prefer to "sleep" and spend the evening hours at? What one has the best room decor? What was/is your deciding factor as to where to stay?

I've stayed in both areas though not in the mansion area so I can't speak to that particular area but for US we liked Alligator Bayou quite a bit but being from MN and having been to MANY-A-Cabin with that exact feel didn't find that area particularly new and exciting to us (though it was our very first resort and trip to WDW that we stayed there so it will ALWAYS hold a special place in our hearts). Though it was LOVELY and quiet! :flower: We just loved the more lively decor and "feel" of the FQ so if we were to choose between those 2 again, we'd go FQ. On the note of quiet, we didn't feel that FQ was noisey either it just doesn't have the dense foliage like AB does to deaden some noise.

Wonderful resort though on all areas!

If as you say you think you will spend a lot of time at POR, why stay at POFQ. POFQ is smaller but if you are going back and forth between the two resorts that won't really won't matter. I prefer POR because I like having the option of a sit down restaurant. Also like the option of the quiet pools if the main pool is crowded. Have a good trip wherever you decide.

I agree if you are going to spend more time at POR then stay there. Why waste time going back and forth. It's quite a walk and the boat is there but can take a while to wait for.

You kids will love the pool at POR. It is really a wonderful resort. The AB rooms have just been rehabed and are really fresh. The kids loved our rooms and the decor. Someone had posted some great room pics of the AB section so maybe do a search for some pictures. My reason for going with POR was because it was the only one that you can have 5 to a room, but I also loved the themeing. I did resort hop to AKL,WL, CR, GF & POP while there and I honestly would have picked POR again in a heartbeat! Not that the others weren't great, but for the money and what POR has to offer, no brainer for me. POR was very peaceful which I loved! It was like we had our building to ourselves. The food court was very nice and the sweet potatoe pancakes and stuffed french toast at Boatwrights is not to be missed!

Have a great trip whatever you decide to go with!

with children your children's ages, i would vote for POR, esp if you are comfortable letting them go off and do things on their own (boats, bikes, fishing, etc)... plus, boatwrights was our #1 meal on our last trip!

that being said, because we did not do a lot of "resort-time" and extras, we LOVED POFQ for it's compact size and ability to get from our room to the buses in a minute, etc...

it's my understanding that the walk from some parts of POR to the pool/food court/etc are as long as the walk from POFQ...
