I am going to be at POFQ in 3 weeks. I have moderate rheumatoid arthritis and I'd like to know which would be the best building to request. I'd like to be fairly close to the food cour and the pool. I will be travelling with my 70 yo MIL also so convenience is a big factor this trip. Thanks for any help you can give.

The best request you can make is "a building close to the food court and the pool". The Room Assigners are familiar with their own (relatively small) resort and would be able to give you an appropriately located room if at ALL possible.

My favorite is building 4 - on the ground floor facing the courtyard in the section closest to the food court. You can pop into the food court on the side door - its very close to the pool, the food court and everything else (around room 413X - not sure of exact number). I needed this proximity when I traveled with an infant and a stroller and it was perfect.

Building 5 would probably be the best all round, but 4 would be a pretty good choice too - and slightly closer for getting to a car or the bus stop.

Have your request put onto your main booking with Disney now, making sure that you mention that this is a MEDICAL request. You could then try contacting the resort a couple of days before you check in to see if they can block out a room for you, but remember that there are no guarantees.

Please refer to the map that andrewilley provided, above.

I requested a room "close to transportation and food court." We checked-in around 11:00 p.m. and were assigned a room at the far end of Building 2; you see how Building 2 is made up of 3 buildings? We were in the one with the numeral "2" on it (on the map above).

When I saw it circled on the map the CM gave to me at check-in, I was disappointed. I mean, when you look at it on the map, it looks so far from the food court. I figured I could always request a different room the next morning ... I just wanted to get my tired 6 year old and 4 year old to bed, and we braced for the long walk to our room.

I was very pleasantly surprised that this "long walk" to this "far away" room took exactly 2 minutes flat! That's right ... I timed it. TWO MINUTES. On the map, it looks so far, but it's a pleasantly compact resort.

If you put Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey and the Queen of England in a room, Oprah would be the "poor person" in the room, but she's not exactly poor. In the same way, there are "far" buildings at POFQ but none of them are truly far away, if you know what I mean.

I couldn't agree more, there are no really long distances at POFQ. I must add a scale measure to that map, which might help folks get a better idea of just how nicely compact it is.

A great way to work out distances is to go onto Google Earth and use the ruler feature to draw multi-point lines between two points, and it will tell you the exact distance. Neat!

I would request "close to the food court and pool due to arthritis". Then they will know the exact reason why you made your request.
