Okay so I have been going nuts trying to figure out which resort to stay in. We will be in the park most of the time, but I do want something at least kind of comfy to stay, and also in a good location. We started off with Pop and even yesterday I got a little crazy and was thinking CR. But we really can't afford that... I dk what I was thinking... anyways I have FINALLY decided between two.
It will be four adults (but in two rooms) Me, my DH and my parents. My DH and I are in our early 20's and my parents in their early 40's.

Anyways, it is between the POFQ or WL.... both would be standard rooms.

So give it to me, the good, the bad the ugly... It's a $500 difference in price with the AAA discount. We will be there from May 7th-14th 2008. It will be our first anniversary and also a redo of our honeymoon... look at my pre-trip thing in my sig. for more details on that bit haha

BTW Sorry for posting so much about where I may stay, I just want to get this thing booked soon, and since our honeymoon didn't work out as planned I just want this to be as close to perfect as it can get (while understanding that mess-ups and such are bound to happen)

At first I was gonna say get a king size room at POFQ....BUT....

with a "redo" of a honeymoon....definately WL....
you will love it.
place is very romantic.....GO FOR IT...you won't be sorry.

We had our 1st anniversary at WL and loved it. This was also our first onsite stay and since then we have not gone off site :) Last New Year we stayed at POFQ which was very pretty but for an anniversary it has to be WL.

I would have to go with WL, we have stayed there many times and still enjoy it. We have also stayed at POFQ and liked it also. As for room size its about the same except you have a Balcony at WL which is nice for coffee in morning and also nice in the evening.
We have booked standard at WL but somehow we are always upgraded to courtyard.

So it's worth the extra $500?

Yes most definitely :) The balcony is one of the best parts, plus you can have your curtains open to let light in, if you did this at POFQ anyone else can look straight into your room.

Claire ;)

Anyone know what the standard view at WL is? Like is it of a parking lot or trees or what?

Standard is parking lot, driveway or on higher floors I believe it is the roof! Woods view is the trees.

Claire ;)

We love the WL... Went on our honeymoon and with the kids. It is cozy and beautiful. Would not go for a standard view. Can hear noise from the pool at night, so you may want to stay away from a pool view room.

You will love it there. They have a great counter service with tons of great choices for snacks and meals. Big fire place to sit and watch a fire as you have a drink. Pool is nice (not the best but the water fall feature that starts in the lobby is something to see). Also love that it is next too FW. Nice to take a bike or a walk through the trail.

You will not regret the WL!

If you will be at the parks most of the time, is the $500 worth it? If the money is no object, go for WL but if you could use the $500.00 on food and other things, go for POFQ.

A standard view room at WL may also overlook the service area. Be sure to put in a request for a higher floor so that any noise won't be a problem. :thumbsup2

This is just my 2 cents but WL does not seem Romantic what so ever.
It seems rustic and to me that's not romantic.
I think Charm is romantic and that what POFQ has.
To me the buildings at POFQ looks like you stepped into The Aristocats Movie with nice landscaping, Wroghtiron Railings--very charming! Plus being at POFQ you are right next to DTD. POFQ has a very nice Hot Tub.
Plus you save $500.00.

I've stayed at both and would definitely recommend WL for you. We had a standard view room last September and received a free upgrade to a woods view room where we could see the fireworks over the Magic Kingdom. It was wonderful.

That trip was just DH and I (we are both in our 20's) and we both thought the resort was very romantic.

:goodvibes

Guess I'm different than most of the posters. I just spent my first night ever at POFQ and thought the place was beautiful! I find WL too dark(I've only visited there, never stayed there). We spent our evening walking around the grounds last Sat PM at POFQ and loved the little "streets" to stroll around. It's a close walk over to POR and you can take the boat down to Downtown Disney as well. I don't think I'd spend an extra $500, especially if you're spending most of your days in the parks.

I've already told my DH I'd love to spend more time at POFQ - great place for couples, IMO!

We stayed at WL on our honeymoon and loved the atmosphere. Felt romantic. So much so that we already know that is where we will be for our 10 year.

If the $500 is going to create a hardship on your trip budget, go for POFQ, it is nice. I would spend the $ and go for WL. Have a nice trip.:earsboy:

WL has the most inviting lobby of any Disney hotel. Grab a glass of wine (or beer) and sit in front of the Fireplace in a rocking chair.

Our favorite resorts are POR/POFQ and WL but we would stay in WL ANY chance we got.

Is it worth it? Is any hotel at Disney really "worth" what they charge?

This last August my boyfriend and I went to POFQ and loved it. I'm having the hardest time trying to decide whether to upgrade to Wilderness Lodge just to try something different. Last year we didn't spend alot of time in our room but part of that is because it was my boyfriend's first trip to Disney in almost 20 years! We are going to extend our trip from 5 days to 8 days and might spend some more down time, since we will have time to do so.
How is the the transporation for WL to the other parks other than MK?

How is the the transporation for WL to the other parks other than MK?

Transportation by bus is fine. The bus only stops at the Fort and the Lodge. That cuts down on stops and time. We have had best experience from the WL.

I agree in the fact if you won't spend much time in your room, POFQ would be the choice. If you plan on enjoying what the hotel offers head the other way. If it's a fast trip we stay less expensive but if it's longer and we have time to enjoy the hotel we will pay more. Sometimes I would rather spend $ on something for my home or clothing from Disney than spending $ on a room. Have fun either way!!;)
