Looking for some opinions on Port Orleans French Quarter v. Port Orleans Riverside-

What do you prefer, which has better rooms/scenery etc?

Also do the buses run seperately for each resort or is it ONE bus for Port Orleans-and does this make for super crowded buses?

Thanks :)

I have never stayed at POR, however, with that said, POFQ is the first stop on the bus loop. The buses stop at POFQ (1 stop) then travel through POR, which has 3 or 4 stops. The buses can be crowded, as you can imagine so if you pick up in MK, etc., you are the first to be let off. I liked the considerable smaller size of POFQ, it's more intimate and has designs very much like New Orleans. There is boat service that runs from POFQ to POR and to DTD, which was great for our last day at WDW. With POFQ everything seems so close, the food court, the market square and the pool. The food court is the only place you can get benigns (New Orleans type of donut) that are out of this world. However, I suppose for small children the huge mardi gras masks in the food court might be a tad scary. If you want a sit-down table service you can always walk or take the boat to POR for dinner or go to DTD, etc.

POFQ is our favorite moderate!

I've stayed at both, and definitely have a bit more love for POFQ! I just love the atmosphere and the whole style of the resort itself. :)

I have stayed at both and really like POR. The rooms are about the same at either one. I was in the mansion section and loved the walk along the river. I think POR has a better food court. However, it is larger and you may have to do more walking there.

Either one will be nice. Enjoy!

I've stayed at both and liked POFQ better. It's smaller and easier to get around. The bus stops there first.

POFQ!!! hands down. Have stayed at both and FQ with our 2.5 DD and she wasn't afraid of the mardi gras masks in the food court. If you are concerned about the buses, then definietly stay in FQ. They are the 1st pick up and the 1st drop off for all parks and have seen them skip Riverside when the buses are full. Love the smaller feel of FQ as well as the themeing and I am a totally Southern girl at heart! You can always take the boat or a stroll to the other resort and the boat ride to DTD can't be beat after a long day although it can get chilly at night depending upon the time of year you visit.
Best of luck with your decision. You really can't go wrong with either but POFQ gets this households vote :thumbsup2

We have not stayed at POFQ but have stayed several times at POR. We love the quiet atmosphere of POR. It's just a really nice resort to walk around. I love the Alligator Bayou rooms - they are a more rustic style which I like. The rooms in Magnolia Bend and what I've seen of FQ (although I think I heard they are refurbishing some) are too "fancy" for me. I'm just not a fan of French Provincial or anything gilded.:)

apparently run on different schedules depending on time of year. We have stayed at POFQ only. The first time most parks were shared. MK went to separate buses after something like 3:00 PM. The last time I don't remember going through POR at all on the buses the whole week.

POFQ rooms have just recently been refurbished. POR is set to done over the next few months.

They both have their good points, but we like POFQ better.
The bus only shared with POR during down times in mid afternoon, and also Downtown Disney probably, because you can also take the boat. Its nice but the bus stops were still crazy in the morning because MK and HS share a stop so there are a lot of people crowded under one bus stop. But POR has 4 stops- so there is a possibility that if you are the 4th stop the buses can be full when they pull up. The kids love the serpent slide at POFQ too, and it is very QUIET walking around. But POR has a much better food court if you eat a lot of meals at the resort- which we do. POFQ has a pretty small foodcourt with very few selection.

We've stayed at POFQ numerous times and love it. That said, we'll never stay at POR, just too big and spread out for us; I just don't get the attraction of buildings that supposedly look like "mansions" either. Love the rooms (all buildings newly refurbished), queen size beds, the peace and quiet, the hot tub, boat to DTD, love that whatever building you're in you're not far from the bus stop or food court. Also love that POFQ is first picked up and dropped off when POR and POFQ share buses. Do I love POFQ? Why, yes, I do.

Hello there. We have stayed at both and greatly prefer PORS. It has much more lush landscaping, better foodcourt, better main pool area with additional quiet pools, and all around just more amenities. It has a full service marina, carriage rides, a table service restaurant, lounge entertainment, a fishing hole, and much more!

Bus service is about the same at either, sometimes they share ,sometimes not so to us, thats not a factor. And they both also enjoy beautiful boat transportation to DTD, which is very cool.

Don't get me wrong, they are both lovely resorts, but since you are paying the same price to stay at either, it makes sense to me to go with the one that has more bang for your buck, POR!

Take care:goodvibes

POR for me .............. these questions almost always split down the middle.......so here we go.........scope and scale goes to POR........intimacy goes to POFQ.........pool for pre schoolers goes to POFQ..............pool for older kids and adults goes to POR...........main building functionality goes to POR.....table service goes to POR (none at POFQ).....and food court goes to POR hands down, in fact i consider it the best food court in all of WDW. having said all that you will not be disappointed whichever you choose.
