POFQ Main Pool vs. POR Main Pool

My daughters are 7 & 5. They can swim, but aren't strong at it. But they do LOVE pools. The bigger and more elaborate, the better. This is a big consideration for their enjoyment of the trip. Does anyone have advice for me on selecting one vs. the other based on the main pools?

I would say POFQ has a cooler themed pool and a fun looking slide. If you stay at one of the Port Orleans resorts you can "pool-hop" to the other as they are "sister resorts" and a short walk from each other.

Our kids preferred Ole Man Island at POR to the POFQ pool - Doubloon Lagoon, I think it was called when we were there last Sep. Try them both, see if your girls like one more than the other.

It's a difficult one to answer. On the surface, POFQ 's Doubloon Lagoon looks a more of a "fun" place with the fantastic sea serpent slide and the really cute alligator figures which may be more than enough to attract the kids.

However, apart from those details the pool at Ol' man Island is probably overall better. It's more secluded (and not overlooked by accommodation buildings) has lots more subtle detailing and some great waterfall features, it has a much longer slide (which is often overlooked because it's less visible), and the pool bar and hot tub are both within better sight-line of the main pool if you've got kids you need to watch over. It's also worth remembering that POR has five quiet pools too, which may suit less adventurous swimmers better.

But as has been said, you can pool-hop anyway so try them all!

My kids were the same age when we went last May. We stayed at Riverside but took the boat one day over to the FQ just to swim. There was a washroom by the pool so we changed there after our swim and had our dinner there. It was a nice change of scenery.

The kids loved both slides and looking back they would not have 'missed out' even if we had not had the chance to visit the FQ.

My oldest like the POR better because it seemed faster to him and my youngest liked the serpent one because it wasn't so fast. I had to assist her at the bottem of both slides because she could just touch and the water was a little rough at the end of the slide.

Whichever you pick they will like. I liked the POR because of the trees and shrubs around it. It seemed more private. Also the quiet pools are way less crowded if your kids are not confident swimmers and don't like to be bumped about in the water.

I just returned from my first stay at POFQ and my family loved everything about it. It was quaint and not a large resort so any building is easy accessable to the lobby. We walked the path one night to the POR and it just seemed so overwhelming by how big the resort was.

Since they are sister resorts, you can use both pools regardless of which resort you stay at.

Am staying at POFQ this coming Aug/Sept. Stayed at POR last year and loved the pool. We think we'll like the pool at POFQ just as much, and as the PP said, you can use both pools since they're sister resorts.
