Pofq....just Not What It Used To Be!!!!

We had a great stay at FQ this past May. Marie, our Mousekeeper was WONDERFUL!!! The CM's at the front desk were also very friendly and went out of their way to help us!!

However, my SIL said that when he ordered Beignets one evening, the CM was very, very rude. He could tell that she did not want to make them. She THREW the batter into the fryer! :scared1: The funny thing was once my SIL ordered them....many more people came up to order them too!:rotfl: Boy, the CM was mad and the other guests could see that. My SIL DID NOT report the CM. Maybe he figured that since the other guests ordered more beignets (the thing she did not want to do) that it was punishment enough.:confused3 :rotfl2:

I am glad that you still managed to have a good time. After reading this thread and several others, it came to mind the other things I have read on how short of staff WDW has become and how it is apparently hard to get people to work there anymore. Correct me if I am wrong. I have also heard that maybe the pay and benefits of being a CM are not what they should be. I love Everything Disney. No one get me wrong. But Happiest Place on Earth, and Million Dreams and Pixie Dust may not be the happiest place to work. I can not believe that the corporation is not making enough money to perhaps pay their employees more. I still admit that I could be wrong. I have not worked there. I do know that sometimes people have bad days. I also know, that when YOUR JOB is dealing with the public and that is what you are getting paid to do, you are NOT RUDE and you should remain as courteous as possible and try to resolve any problems that may crop up. Even if a situation can not be resolved stay courteous will certainly help aleviate bad press and unhappy guests. I can only imagine how many rude guests CM's may run into, but I just think that they need to learn to not be rude in return. That may be an impossible situation. I don't know. Perhaps Disney needs to provide more training for the CM's to learn how to handle a bad situation. And if they are being rude just because they hate their job, then maybe they need to find other work. Every situation I have ever run into at Disney has always been handled by a very courteous CM who went out of their way to be of service. I am lucky. I just think with the prices we pay to go to a magical place, then the entire experience should be magical. If it is turning into a rude place then we shouldn't have to pay the prices that are charged.:surfweb: Now I am babbling so Bye.

It really doesn't do alot of good to complain here, only letting others know of your complaints, it doesn't get the problems solved. I would send them an email and tell them everything that you have told us. I too have had problems the last few times there, I love POFQ, I love the grounds, and the food court, but quite honestly their housekeeping sucks, I have had to wait until very late in the day many times for a clean room, no bath mat, no glasses etc etc. Being only 1 person in the room I know it is not a dirty pig sty. And quite honestly for what we all pay for the Disney resorts, we should recieve a certain level of workmanship and pride. I have even seen housekeepers doing THEIR laundry in the laundry for the guests and I can honestly say I do not believe it was on their time! So if you have problems please take the time and email Disney and give them a chance to fix the problem areas. Tell them your dates that you were there, and your room numberAlso the times you visited the food court. I never used to complain about things but now I do, I expect a certain level of service from businesses.

I have been disappointed the last few times in their service, and for my Dec. trip I am trying a different resort......CSR. I love the WL but it seems to fill up so fast these days.

I know you are all right I should complain but I hate to get anyone in trouble. For the money we all pay to stay in a Disney resort it should be top notch..............I'm returning back to WDW for the MVMCP in November and I was going to consider a stay at the BC but now I don't know if I want to spend the extra money.

I will contact disney and explain what happen, maybe they can help save the POFQ and sprinkle some pixie dust around there. I will let you what kind of response I get from Disney.

in June. While I had a couple of quibbles during my stay, it was very enjoyable.

The food court had a couple of bad moments I think driven by staffing. For example, one morning I was the third in line at the pastry station. The two people in front ordered beignets so it took me over ten minutes to get a croissant and blueberry muffin because the person at the counter had to watch the beignets cook. The next time I went in, however, there was a separate person frying the beignets. I did not notice any attitudes.

The other issue I had was with the bus coming back from the MK. During the summer it appears that POFQ and POR are on the same bus until 3:00 PM. One afternoon we had to wait for the third bus before we could get on. When we finally got one the line for the buses could still probably fill three or four buses. All other resort lines were short. The issue to me appears to lie with the Disney transportation system which seems too inflexible to adjust for such incidences.

House keeping was fine. My son dropped something under the bed the first day so I had a clear chance to look for any neglected dust but didn't find any. We got a towel animal the second day. It was the only one but the kids never took it apart. Each afternoon we returned to find our kids Mickey's and the new Pluto arranged with the towel animal in some creative way. (It was also interesting to see what they did with the pillows. I fractured my humerus five weeks before the trip and required four extra pillows for sleeping.)

I've stayed at all three levels of hotels at Disney and liked the decor. I really liked the dresser and thought it fit well with the theming.

In the end I would not hesitate to back to POFQ again. It will be one of the first I consider when we return in two years.

They over worked and understaffed. Disney is short over 3000 workers. It won't get any better. And yet they continue to build resorts. :confused3

We were there 5 nights from the end of May to first couple days of June. Good golly, I truly dreaded going down to the food court... the majority of the workers down there were downright rude. The lady in the pastry/ice cream area seriously stared you down when you asked for something. I have to say that I am a polite person, and I treat others as I wish to be treated. Even if they are having a bad day, it's kind of their job to display that "Disney Spirit" anyway. No, I did not speak up while on vacation. I mentioned it all in detail in a survey I filled out via the internet. I do not like confrontation, and when on vacation, I just want to enjoy and relax, not complain and get myself upset. I echo a previous poster, for the money we pay, it ought to be great service! Aside from that, we really loved POFQ, we just walked to Riverside for our counterservice!

I'm sorry so many of you had a poor stay. I was there for 2 nights 2 weeks ago and I had a wonderful experience. I had a wonderful CM check me in, and I mentioned that I was there for a passholder event at ToT. I asked her if she knew any details about the event and she said that she didn't but refered me over to the conceirge desk. The next day I had a message on my machine from that same cast member telling me that she hoped that I had a wonderful time and if I had the chance to stop by and let her know how it went. The cast member at the conceirge desk was also very helpful, she didn't know about the passholder event, but she called MGM and talked to a variety of different people until she found one that could answer my questions. I only went into the food court once, to get a yogurt parfait for breakfast, but the lady I asked about the parfait, and the person who made it for me, were fine. I thought that the grounds looked very nice and the pool was very clean. The room was always made up when I got back to the resort, but since that was 11:00 pm at the earliest, I guess thats not much commentary. I really enjoyed my stay at POFQ, and althought I do like Riverside better, I wouldn't hesistate to return.

POFQ used to be my favorite resort, we used to spend two weeks at a time there. After our stay in March, I have NO plans to return. Check in was a nightmare. They sent us to THREE rooms that had not been cleaned. (room 1 carpet cleaner was in the room and opened the door scaring me half to death, room 2 had the comforters piled on the bed, room 3 the maid was working in.) We carried our luggage to all three rooms and back to check in and stood in line. Before we went to the third room I asked for a corner room near an elevator (I was tired of carrying luggage) I was told no problem. I got a room on the 2nd floor in the middle of a long hallway (no corner) as far from the elevator as you can get. And yes I spoke to a manager about it. I was told "I'll look into" and then he never returned my calls.

And that was ONLY checkin:eek:

I wonder if mousekeeping was reporting that the rooms were ready. Only open rooms are assigned, so it would not be the fault of the front desk. But you'd think that someone might walk you to your room after the second incident. I guess it's never been that busy when we checked in. Course, last time we just left our stuff with bell services since we were using ME so our bags magically appeared in the room. Maybe the reason I've never had any of these issues is because I bring chocolate for the people at the front desk. :confused3 :rotfl:

The magic will never be like it was ten or fifteen years ago. Take a look around, the cast members have to put up with a lot of crap. I could paste on a smile for about three days( if that) and then I would be like .... Next.... move along. My first two trips to disney the cast members made it so much fun. I dont blame them, its usually the average traveler that needs an attitude adjustment. :sad2:

I stayed there in March and had a wonderful stay. I left my room early each day and left the drapes open so housekeeping could see the room was empty and I'd come back at lunch time and my room would be clean. The first day I had towel animals, which I left on the TV for the rest of my stay.

I don't drink coffee and I've learned to bring my own tea bags and sweet and low because no hotel I ever stay in thinks to restock the tea bags.

I only went to the food court to refill my mug or get late evening snacks, and never had a problem.

I'd definitely stay there again.

We just got back on the 28th. We actually moved from CBR to POFQ b/c of all the issues with CBR. We were thrilled to be at POFQ. It was so much nicer. We did have one housekeeping issue, but the front desk manager more than made up for it. Everyone else was great. I was actually amazed at how nice everyone was at the food court.

just a different view to share.

I agree, I have friends that work at Disney resorts and the things they share about what goes on at the resorts is just downright scarey. Guests fighting, getting drunk, public lewdness, the world is just not a very nice place anymore when you have crowds.

And so many people with an attitude about what is "owed" them.

I was thinking If Mr. Walt Disney was alive today......he would not be a happy camper......He must be turning over in his grave. :confused3

I agree that there are many tourist that are rude and inconsidrate to CM when there on vacation, but what about people like me, that are not. I don't think that is fare at all. Like I said in the begining it will be along time before I go back there.

We were there last year in September and loved it. :goodvibes
We liked POFQ way better than AKL! (let me run and hide now). :rotfl:

We didn't stay at POFQ this past June 6-16th but we stayed at CBR. We loved the resort but the only time we noticed sad CMs was at the food court. So it seems maybe the food court CMs need some classes for customer service skills. But I am nervous about these reviews about POFQ. I recommended this resort to my sister and her husband(Taking their grandson) next June 2008. It is their first trip ever to WDW(once in a life time trip). I recommended POFQ because of the mod.price range, quiet, quaint appealing to older adults. :confused3

Also we have always loved staying on-site. I am actually considering staying at a downtown disney location for our next trip. I want to make a comparison on services.

Hi everyone hope all is well. I just came back on 7/25 from a wonderful 7 days at WDW...........over all we had a great time the parks were great . Me and my DS12 had a worderful vacation. I was in the airport on the way home and sitting with a smile and my son says to me "why are smiling" I told him because I was thinking about coming back already ! he started to smile..........

Now regarding POFQ, I have been there a few times now and I have to say they need a little magic there............the rooms need to be updated, the staff at the food court was not nice at all, personally I didn't have any problems, but I couldn't belive how nasty they were to others. the food was nothing to get excited about except of course the Beignets. Mousekeeping was o.k. there was a couple of times we needed to call for CLEAN towels, they forgot to give us cups and coffee we had to call for that as well . I didn't complain I didn't want to get anyone in trouble, maybe I should of  ........... What happen to the magic? It will be a long time before I go back there.........

On the plus side the buses were great over all our vacation was great, and I can't wait to get back to WDW. Thanks for reading............sorry so long :surfweb:
Not sure what it used to be but my we didn't care for POFQ either. Sorry about your stay.
