Pofq....just Not What It Used To Be!!!!

We just stayed at POFQ in May and I have to say, I agree with the OP. This was our first time there and we were not really impressed. We stayed at CBR 2 years ago on our first WDW trip and loved it, but wanted to try something different this time. I had heard a lot of good things about POFQ so we decided to give it a try. My DH & I found ourselves wishing we were at CBR most of the week.
While we never had anything terrible happen to us there, it just really seemed to lack the Disney magic. The only nice thing about the place was the awesome pool slide and the fact that you really couldn't be put in a bad building, everything was close to everything.
The wood on the dresser and headboards in the room was very dark which made the room feel extra gloomy. We never once got a towell animal or anything, and we tipped everyday. And the staff at the food court. . . Well what can I say that hasn't already been said ??? VERY SLOW!! Most of them very rude. The CM's at the bakery were the worst. Getting a meal there on the DP was a chore in itself. First we asked the CM's what we could get on the DP, as this was our first time using it, and we got conflicting answers. Very confusing. Then you have to get your entree at one counter and then in order to get the dessert that comes with your meal you have to go and wait in the bakery line. And this line is always very long because the CM's are very slow and very rude there. Then after that you have to wait in the line for the cashier. Very long drawn out process. And it was never very busy when we ate there, so I'm not sure exactly what the problem was. We never encountered such a problem at the CBR food court.
We didn't really have any problems with check-in, The line was huge when we got there, but there were plenty of CM's working. And we did get all of our room requests, which was very nice. We were looking forward to the boat ride to DTD, but the boat was so loud that we couldn't even talk to each other, very unpleasant.
So, overall it's just okay. We didn't let it ruin our trip! Just not very Disney-like or very magical. We will either try CSR next time or go back to CBR.
