POFQ CLOSING INFO THREADS-UPDATED & CLEANED UP!

My TA is a Fairy Godmother. I just got word that for $11 per night we are upgraded to the WL woods view king size bed. Just the spot we wanted. Our stay at PQ was for 11/7-11/9. We were splitting our stay between BWV and PQ. Now it is BWV and WL......we will have busy, busy, busy and two days to slow down at WL. Considering we are going in November, I am thrilled that I know now what my arrangements are.

Disneyfreaks... you might want to call back and ask a different person about a pool view. I know that some have been offered. I am staying at the Yatch Club in May/June and I am taking my family as well (mom & dad, bro and his fam, sisters). I couldn't get them rooms at the yatch club so I asked them where they wanted to stay and they chose FQ. Well when they closed I called my friend at Disney and asked what they are going to do. He said they hadn't decided what they were going to do but he would call me then have a reservationist call me. Well after being persistant I got Coronodo (not my first choice but they didn't want CBR or riverside) Then I talked to them on monday with my friend on the line... they told me that I what was being offered at AKL was standard, savanna, and pool views... I took a Savanna for and unheard of rate (which I promised not to disclose) but I am still trying to get my family over to the Yatch club. So anyway the point is that I was told they were offering them, They may be sold out for the time your there but I would call just the same.

That is what is so strange. I only have one confirmation number but she said that I could apply the codes to the CBR part of the reservation, but couldn't touch BC. I got the DC rate on CBR when I realized that I hadn't requested it (didn't know I could renew DC retroactively until after I had booked it) It was at that time that I was told that the BC couldn't be changed later but that I could adjust CBR.

Does this sound right to you? She also said that she couldn't tell me my hotel rate because I'm on a package, etc. I didn't ask for a package when I booked this - wanted room only.

Anyhow, I am happy to be going to BC at Christmas! It is exactly what we wanted when we discussed alternatives to FQ. Good luck with your AP watch and to everybody else trying to make the switch!

I just found out from my TA that I can upgrade from POFQ [water view] Dream Maker Romance pkg to Poly [garden view] w/Dream Maker Silver pkg for a total of $384.98 for 6 day stay 5/25-5/31. Needless to say I jumped all over it.

Whenever you have a DC booking, it is automatically set up as a package even if you ask for room only. They add on miniature golf or wide world of sports entrance as a freebie so they can call it a package. It is still the room only rate.

I did not have DC rate [not a member]. I had specifically asked for the romance pkg add on when I first booked since this is a 29th anniversary trip and the first time DW and I are going on our own since our honeymoon when WDW was ONLY MK and a big parking lot.
The romance pkg included Cirque du Soleil, a Carriage ride at WL, and 1 dinner as well as the golf and other garbage that they gave me, But the first 3 things I paid extra for. Now DW and I will have a total of 24 Magical Wishes for the six days that we can use for CB's, lunch or dinner at any of 125 restaurants throughout the WDW resort, and also can be used for other "extras" like special gifts [and some of them look real good] and also Disney Dinner shows. Well worth $384.98.

The DC reservation is why she was saying it was a package. Disneyolic is right, they call it a package even though it's a room only.

If they let you apply a DC discount to the CBR after you made your upgrade changes, it sure looks like they're going to let you apply future codes as well. There are usually some pretty good rates out for that time of year, you just have to wait longer than everyone else to see how much you saved!:D

If I were you, I'd give it a few days for things to settle down a bit and let them get what they're doing figured out. Then, I'd give them a call and make them clarify everything.

Thanks Karen. I am so happy to hear you finally got things worked out. Have a wonderful time at the BC!! I guess we will have to hope for a complimentary upgrade but I won't expect one. I will call again though like phanomouse suggested. Maybe someone else will tell us something different. And good luck getting your family over to YC phanomouse. My son and son in law both have become victims of todays failing economy so I know they would feel awful if I told them how costly it is to get a better view. We really don't spend that much time in the rooms but I love to have my morning coffee outside. If we can just avoid the dreaded third floor I guess it will be fine. We are all thrilled to be staying at AKL.

peachgirl....the CM in the relocation team referred to us as "misplaced guests!" LoL

I hope everyone has a wonderful trip and the bumps in the road are soon behind us!

Thanks Disneyolic and Peachgirl. I'll give them a call in a few weeks and see what they say.

I can't BELIEVE it!!! I called back and spoke to a very nice cast member who at first didn't quite understand why I was calling. I had been booked at the Boardwalk at $124, but then told her that I'd heard the upgrade rates were available for post card codes. She said, "Let me check..." And then said that they *were* available and I was due an extra $20 discount per night - so we're at the Boardwalk now for $104. Unbelievable!!!

I do admit to feeling somewhat guilty for asking for more when they're already giving us so much to make up for the displacement. I promised the lady we'd spend all the extra money on Disney merchandise, and I meant it. Maybe now I can afford that $80 Boardwalk Sweatshirt I've been looking at for 2 years.

She said that Disney really did want to make it up to everyone who was displaced and give many people a chance to stay at a Deluxe that they never would have ever even considered before. Smart business if you ask me - it will give some people a taste for it and make them want to stay at that level the next time. Also, if those rooms would just sit empty anyhow, they're still making $30 more than they would have. Seems a win-win for everyone.

I got the call this afternoon. I was offered to stay at CSR or CB for the same rate which was 104.00 including tax. I was also able to upgrade to WL woodview for 11.00 more a night or AKL standard view only for the same 11.00 a night. Did not ask about anything else, kinda wanted WL anyway. Total with tax 116.00 a night. Is this a good deal? Should I pressed it more? Does anyone know what some good requests are for the WL? The CM said the top floor offered a good view. Agree or Disagree? I asked for bunkbed room, nonsmoking. Any feed back would be helpful. Thanks!-----Chris

Couldl some of you who got those lower than 124 rates post what codes you were using? My mom was using the AEG -FL resident code.
susy,
That is the same code I had and I was offered: Poly, YC, BC & BI for $116.00 per night and AKL or WL for $93.50 per night both prices include tax. I would call again regarding your mom's upgrade price. Maybe the CM was not using the correct codes for FL residents or maybe your mom got an upgraded water view etc.

I need some information:

I am not sure about the code thing....how do you find them and how do you use them?

Is it possible to call back and use a code and get a discount after you already agreed to the upgrade?

I made my reservation thru the Disney Club and not sure if got the best rate to start with.

I am happy with my WL upgrade and I dont want to put it in jeopardy.

Thanks in advance....

Tara8595,
At the risk of being nosy, was that a postcard code with or without a pin number?
Thanks in advance.

You are very right that it is smart business, as you said these are guests that had no intention of booking a deluxe resort. Disney offered them a price so close to what they were paying for a moderate it was almost impossible to refuse.

What Disney does realize that occupancy rates will now be higher at these deluxe resorts and that means more revenue for them in other areas. Eating at deluxe resorts can be very expensive, then add tips for bellmen, valet parking, recreation costs, and you can see why this is a win situation for Disney even after discounting the rooms majorly.

The only no win is those waiting and hoping for an AP rate for a deluxe resort. The increased occupancy levels at deluxe resorts may have an effect on whether any are released. Only time will tell, but it does not look good for May and June for AP discounts.

Enjoy your stay it is a beautiful resort.

I am so glad that Disney is making right with everyone........ Looking back at the beginning threads, the atmosphere has done a 360 turn........Thank goodness.......... Hope everyone has a fantastic stay at whereever you ended up!!!!!!!!!!!:Pinkbounc

DisneyFreaks: I thought that the third floor of AKL was the place to be. In fact I requested third or fourth floor. Please clairify for me - I may want to change my request! Thanks!

Ooops, sorry Kayeil. I have very little knowledge of AKL. I just did some searches here and in a couple of other forums and I read several posts that said the third floor wasn't too good. I don't even know why actually. Maybe because it's ground level at the front of the lodge and close to the bus stop? We too made our requests for the fourth floor. If you don't have a standard view room booked I'm sure third floor would be fine. But standard views are in the front facing the highway apparently. Does anyone know if there are standard rooms anywhere else at AKL besides the front of the building?
