POFQ with free dining.
We are home from Disney world and had a wonderful week in Florida.
We left on Tuesday evening for Salt lake city and stayed the evening so we didn't have to get up at 3:30 am and drive there. It was uneventful other than the hotel web site and Ramada site said free breakfast so we choose it and they didn't have a breakfast. Urg..
We took a direct flight to Orlando and Disney offers Magical Express which is a bus service to the hotel. They pick up your luggage and deliver it to your room. Perfect for families! We love this service. Our Disney hotel was the Port Orleans French Quarter which is themed just that way. It is small and compact. There are also many people in this small space and it feels crowded.
We arrived and we checked in quickly until the girl was done and explained our room was on the second floor. Well with DS having autism that was not an option. 1.5 hours later she finally gave us our new room. Then we look at the room keys which are also our park passes and they all have my last name on them. I gave her our ressie info with the boys as Sabat and me as Fregd and she still messed it up. I also asked for my case of water which she said she has and it would be delivered. It never came and she messed up almost everything she could.
We went to our room and it was lovely and nice with two sinks and a curtain to pull back when others are sleeping. Mind you this was a huge step down from the 1 br. villa we usually get but we wanted to be in Disney. We went to get the pass keys fixed but there was a line and we were tired. Off we went to the bus to go to the Contemporary for dinner at Chef Mickey's. The bus was standing room only until the drop off at POR.
I had made my ressie thru another friend and it was under her name but I didn't know her last name. Thank God the hostess found Barbara and we had a very nice buffet and Ds got to meet Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Donald! It was wonderful. The charaters don't talk so of course DS won't talk to them. It does make perfect sense.
We took the monorail back to Epcot to get to our hotel and we all got to ride in the nose of the monorail. DS was just staring out the front the entire time. He loves trains and this counts as one.
The next day was fixing our passes and going to Magic Kingdom. The bus again was standing room only after a pick up at POFQ. We spent the day riding the trains, going on pirates and buzz. It was so wonderful to see our DS so happy and taking to strangers. We ate at the Liberty Tree tavern and had dinner with Mickey, Minnie and Chip and Dale. AGain, they didn't talk to DS didn't talk to them either. We saw Wishes and once again remembered how much this fireworks moves me.
Our bus line was the longest with no buses coming as fast as even the values. It took 3 buses to get back with standing room only.
Friday was epcot and the food and wine fest. We stopped at every country and had a glass of wine or beer at each place along with great foods. We seperated here and DS and I went to the rides while DH kept up the drinking. DS and really enjoyed Honey I shrunk the audience and turle talk with crush. We went to hotel for nap and DH came in to get ready for the nite time party at MK. It was the Not so scarry halloween party. We all dressed up. Both boys at pirates and me in my belly dancer costume. DH was a great pirate and was stumbling well from the half bottle of gin. I was getting compiments left and right for my costume which was all hand beaded from Cyro Egypt. I even looked better than Jasmine or so she said. The fireworks were spectacular!
The next day was Animal kingdom which was very crowded but we took our time and walked the trails to see the animals. It was nice to slow down and just stay away from the crowds when we could. DS didn't seem to impressed with the animals but sometimes he would stare. He liked being out of his stroller and running. We rode on the river rapids and DS and I got soaked on the first water splash and it continued. He loved it and we rode the ride again and again. Then we went back for nap and went out to see Illuminations at Epcot. Once again the busses were terrible, but now we are use to it.
Sunday was MGM and now we are dragging our assets. It was fun but we went on a quick ride, saw Lights, action and motor stunt show. DH went on Tower of terror and then DS and I went back for nap. We met DH for dinner at Brown Derby, our favorite dinner of filet and potatoes. Then we went to Fantasmic! It was great when they set the lake on fire and the floats with the characters. Also, how do they put the movie on the water? We loved it and it was our fist time seeing the show. Then I fell back on the bleachers and now have deep brusing on the back of my legs, both wrists on one arm. I am so stupid and so clutzy! It really hurts but it will heal.
Last day back to MK for more trains, pirates, and buzz! We traded for some great pins and DH has a complete pirate set! We took Magical express back and didn't have to deal with luggage. DS slept for 4 hours on the bus and plane and we landed at 9 pm for a 4 hour drive home.
I bought people lunches to use up our dining credits and gave away the water and ceral. It feels good to help out others and it feel even better to be home.
This trip the break thru was that DS started to talk to other people on his own. Most of the time it went very well! He was picked to be in the lion king parade and in the pirate show. He did ok!
POFQ is a quaint and small resort but with all the people it is not intimate or quiet. It felt small and crowded to me and the busses are terrible. The check in person really messed up key things to make our trip work. I would not stay here again.
I did receive towel animals and a basket of flowers even. They were there everyday and it was very nice of mousekeeping. I was only tipping $3 a day but I made the beds and put the used towels in the tub.
We had a great trip but happy to be home again.
