So at the Home Show this weekend, a boothvendor waves us over and DH stops to chat with him. Turns out he's booking timeshare presentations :sad2: I keep saying "No", DH keeps saying it's a pretty good deal  The guy keeps throwing in more and more stuff til DH says, "It's too good a deal to pass up" :scared1: I think I hear the guy say, "Sucker" :rolleyes1

In the end we got:
  • 5 days/4nites at waterfront hotel in Cocoa Beach
  • $50 Ron Jon surf shop gift certificate
  • $100 credit at the steakhouse restaurant
  • 4 days/3nites at Radisson - 1 mile from WDW gate
  • 2 tix to either WDW, SW, US
  • no blackout dates, 24 months to use it

Pkg cost $299 - a good deal if you breakout the components. Not a good deal if we end up with a timeshare :lmao:

Anyone do a timeshare presentation before...what was your experience like? :confused3

cheers,
:flower3:

I was 8. We were already in Florida. (parents and Grandparents) We had to ride around on a bus and spent an entire day going here and there. We had hot dogs for lunch & DSis(10 at the time) threw a hissy b/c she wanted the liver and onions the adults were having. We got a second day at the Magic Kingdom. (circa 1978)
I haven't done one since!
:rotfl2:

Good morning everyone - Tuesday today :thumbsup2

Karen, I hope the timeshare thing is ok - sounds like a good deal for the moment, I hope it's not a hard sell. I've heard of stories from TS's in Spain (as the Brits love going there) where they show you around the place and only take you back to your hotel if you sign up - scary in a foreign country  But I'm sure you'll be fine :goodvibes I'm guessing it's better regulated in the USA (and these were stories from years ago)
We've only done the DVC presentation and we were a bit sceptical but it turned out great :thumbsup2

Good luck

They are usually very very very high pressure sales. They will probably keep you for several hours trying and trying to convince you to buy. The last time I went to one I did not buy and and felt like they were holding me hostage. I finally was allowed to leave with my free hotel nights in Florida and the Bahamas. When I tried to use them it was impossible. No matter which dates I chose I was always told they were sold out. This went on until the offers expired. I was totally flexible on dates and was always told, sorry nothing available. I don't care what they offer me, I no longer sit in on timeshare presentations. I find them to be a complete waste of my time. I hope you have better luck. The only one I ever found to be different was DVC. I don't mean to sound so negative but I have never found them to be a pleasant or positive experience.

Happy Tuesday Everyone. It's a cold, misty, gray day here...but...one more day off the countdown list. Hope everyone has a great day.

Happy Tuesday. No power at work for the last few hours, so I went to the bank. WiFi seems to be on the generator so my laptop works at least until the battery dies.

Since it seems to be a slow day...I've taken some inspiration from the DIS DL-ABD trip thread...

270 days until "Fun on a Boat, 2.0"

270 is:
•The average number of days in a human pregnancy.
•The number of votes needed by the US electoral college to become President.
•Is CCLXX in Roman form
•Is 100001110 in Bianary
•And my favorite, it is a Harshad number in base 10.

Prime Factors of 270=2x3x3x3x5
270 is a 91-gonal Number

Or if weeks work better for you:

39
•atomic number of yttrium.
•number of categories of prohibited activities on the Shabbot.
•number of steps in a movie by Alfred Hitchcock.
•number of signers to the US Constitution at the Constitutional Convention.
•international country code for Italy.

Happy Tuesday folks! :wave2:

Donna, Bex, Kim: fun to read your TS experiences - it'll get me prepared :rolleyes1 Good thing they book us into the hotels before we go on the presentations. We told the guy upfront we weren't interested in TS but he said that was fine, just look at the property. I've got my "out" worked out so just have to ensure DH cooperates and doesn't look interested - lotsa coaching to do :rotfl:

Part of the reason I didn't object was cuz in the back of my mind it meant another trip to FL :lmao: We stay on property for WDW but maybe we'll use it to check out HP and SW before our 2.0 trip so those visits don't cut into our WDW time :rotfl2: Also considering using it to check out one of the few remaining shuttle launches, which DH would

whew, what a day so far! Glad the sun is shining :thumbsup2

cheers,
:flower3:

I shall try to not get pregnant in the mean time then - don't want to miss 2.0 :scared1:

That does sound better than ones I've heard of, glad to hear you are staying positive though - keep that poker face :rotfl:

Is it me or is the Wii Fat! 'age' thing a load of rubbish? Once I got 27 years (I'm 29) and all the others have been in the late 30's :scared1: Just basing it on the balance things is stupid IMHO

DD once got over 80 on that thing. She is only 8. She was NOT amused.
:lmao:

I get between 33 and 69. I am 53. Sometimes I get a "young" age even when I perform poorly on the tests. Weird!

I think I may see how old I can get :lmao: Just stand there ;)

Same here Becx! :scared1:

Morning Paul, I hope so too unless science has made a massive breakthrough and Junior was prophetic  Although the rules were for pregnant women so they may still let you on the ship :confused3
