As a native Texan I like the story of how my hometown got its name. It is quite flat in North Texas so the towns founders wanted to come up with a name having to do with the word Plain. They chose Plano assuming it was the Mexican word for plain. They were wrong, but the name stuck

My father was stationed there first years of marriage and my brother was born there. That is my only connection.

At those Texan names I guess by the time they got all the way over there they were a bit sick of unpronounceable English names

We are supposed to be in the forties. Only a bit of snow in the southern part of the state. In fact, I see no snow at all when I look out my office window. Of course, there are still plenty of ugly, dirty piles in the corners of parking lots.
