Good morning everyone! Great story Jeff! Enjoy the trip.

Forgot to mention, yesterday's ride count = 2.

We had wandered over to Epcot when we got in to get some lunch. Decided to go to Sunshine Seasons in the Land so while we were there we grabbed a FP for Soarin that had a return window of 4:15-5:15. We went to Art of Disney to browse and then decided to do Teresa's favorite ride SSE. After some more shopping (Mouse Gears) our room was ready at BCV so we went back to get some rest since it had been a 4:00 am wake-up for us.

Later in the afternoon we headed back to Epcot and used our FP for Soarin. Love that ride! At that point it was close to our ADR time at Bistro de Paris so we slowly wandered back there. We checked in early and had a 10 minute wait before they seated us. Lovely room, great service, and the food was incredible. There's food porn on my FB page.

Some other things of interest yesterday. Well, maybe not of interest to you guys, but it was certainly different. Val & I were originally scheduled for a 3:00 pm flight, and had already received a first class upgrade. But we decided to see if we could get on an earlier flight - 7:00 am. On Delta, that requires something called a Same Day Confirmed change for which you pay $50. We thought the extra day would be wort it so we did that. The catch is that you can only do this within 3 hours of flight time. So, that meant being all packed and ready to go the night before, then calling at 4:00 am to get on the earlier flight. Thus, alarms were set for 3:50. Called and got the new flights with no problem. Immediately we got in the car and headed for BOS (about a hour away). Check-in was no problem and they tell us we're #1&2 on the upgrade list for first class on this flight. Sure enough, we get upgraded to first class and get seats 1C&D. Great, that makes us first off the plane when we get to MCO!

Then the drama starts. Val & I have a tradition of listening to the most recent podcast when we fly. So after we take off, we're waiting for the signal that its OK to use electronic devices, which doesn't come in the usual amount of time. Even stranger, we don't seem to be climbing much - having apparently leveled off at just under 10,000 feet. Eventually we hear from the flight crew that there is a pressurization problem and they are seeing if they can fix it in the air or if we will have to land at LGA to get it fixed. Great. But it turns out they work some magic in the air and the cabin pressurization works so we can continue our flight normally.

Then, about an hour later there is a call for any physicians on board to identify themselves. One of the passengers was having a medical issue. It turned out to be a very young girl who was headed to WDW with her parents. How do we know this? They had DME luggage tags on their carry-on luggage. Apparently they were going to one of the MK resorts. Unfortunately their plans got a major bump here. The medical personnel that checked her in flight decided that it could have been one of a couple of things, either a fast onset flu or spinal meningitis. That prompted consultation with CDC Atlanta, since the latter can be contagious. When we landed in MCO (about 30 minutes early), there was a very short taxi to the gate. But, we were all asked to stay in our seats while the paramedics boarded to tend to the sick girl. An amazingly well behaved plane load of people dutifully complied. We wound up staying on the plane for probably 45 minutes while they decided if we might have been exposed to something contagious and what they could/should do about it. In the end they decided that the likelihood that it was contagious was low, but not zero. They took the patient off the plane along with the rest of her family and presumably they headed to some medical facility. Once they decided not to quarantine us, the let us off the plane after taking our local contact information. So far, so good - No calls.

As Val & I head to baggage claim I comment about how great it was that we had such an event packed flight and we actually paid and extra $50 each for the experience. From that point on, the day went pretty much as planned. Just a little excitement to start off the trip.

Sounds like quite the adventure. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Wow, Jeff, that's some excitement! Hope everyone stays well, and you enjoy the rest of your trip.

Slow start to my day, so I will still say "Good morning!"

Still in the mid 20's. Warm enough to be out and about, but notenough su to melt too much snow. Will go out to walk on the snow covered trails before the rain tomorrow runis them.

TGIF folks! :wave2:

Some friends of ours sign up for an annual trivia contest fundraiser and someone on their team backed out at the last minute. They're asking me to help fill in :scared1: So they're gonna pick me up to go together tonite. They came in 3rd place last year - hope I don't bring them down :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

The figure skating nationals finish up this weekend which will decide who gets to go to the Olympics: Ladies' drama is about Sasha Cohen's return to competitive skating; Ice Dance will show whether go-to team, Belbin/Agosto fall to the newbies Davis/White. Plus the Aussie Open continues with quarterfinals this weekend - looks like it's not going to be a productive weekend for me :lmao: :lmao:

Make it a fab weekend all! :goodvibes

cheers,
:flower3:

Hope the contest went ok? What sort of questions were there?

I love to watch the figure skating but other than Torvel and Dean (sp?) I don't know any  I'm looking forward to watching a bit of the Olympics on TV though.

Different busy.
Early morning snow closes schools, but when it stops mid-morning, people come in. We get school age kids that live close all day, instead of just after school.

If it snows in the afternoon and some places close early because of the snow, we are still open. People stop in on the way home from work (they got out early!). They tell us how bad the roads are and are surprised we are still open. But they are so happy they can take a couple movies home.

I guess it makes for a different pace every now and then :thumbsup2 It's good to know they appreciate you :woohoo:

Morning!

Today we check out of BCV and into OKW. Grocery and wine shopping are in the cards, perhaps with a stop at Delish Deli.

Val's son arrives later today for a conference. We're hoping to see some of him this afternoon.

Very nice, hope you are having a great time! Is it a bit warmer there now?

Morning everyone! Just stopping in to catch up and say hi. Been so busy with work and home that I haven't stopped by much. Things are starting to slow down a little at work but with the girls well...won't have much me time til after cheer seasons over in April. Ah well..the life of a competitive cheer mom. :rotfl2:

Hope all is well with you all!

Hey there, hope the girls are doing well?

Wow, sounds eventful but glad things were ok in the end :thumbsup2 Not a nice start to the other families vacation though :sad2: I hope the young girl was ok  I'm glad it didn't hold you up - there's nothing worse than delays before you get there, on the way back it's not so much of a problem but I hate to lose Disney time :scared1:

Good moring everyone - another week has begun and now we have less than 46 weeks until PCC 2.0 :cool1:  :dance3: :woohoo: :yay: :cool1:  :dance3: :woohoo: :yay: :cool1:  :dance3: :woohoo: :yay: :cool1:  :dance3: :woohoo: :yay: :cool1:  :dance3: :woohoo: :yay:

Happy Monday folks! :wave2:

Hope the contest went ok? What sort of questions were there?

Good to know my head is filled with useless info :rotfl2: 8 rounds, 10 questions/round. We tied for 2nd, and after 'who pulls the high card from a card deck determines 2nd & 3rd place' we ended up in 3rd, but it was a lot of fun. There was a Disney question :thumbsup2 and it was a pretty mixed lot, though no tennis, figure skating or Pats questions so I don't remember any of the sports ones :lmao:

  1. What year was Mickey Mouse created?
  2. Which poet wrote, "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--; I took the one less traveled by; And that has made all the difference."?
  3. What does a costamonger sell?
  4. Who said, "His mother should have thrown him away and kept the stork."?
  5. A Hammer and a Nail cost $31. If the Hammer cost $30 more than the Nail, what is the cost of each?

highlight for answers
  1. 1928
  2. Robert Frost
  3. Fruit and/or vegetables
  4. Mae West
  5. Hammer $30.50, nail $0.50

Jeff, that'd be too much excitement for me so early - glad it all worked out. Have a fab trip! :goodvibes

I used to follow skating more when my friend Pat and I didn't have guy partners. We'd watch on TV and go to the Stars on Ice sort of show every year.

Yeah, boyz get in the way like that :rotfl: :rotfl:

Disney on Ice was fab even tho Aladdin wiped out on his triple jump: wonderful costumes and clever props.

Lyn, I saw Disc 1 of the Sesame Street series you mentioned - I was in tears over it: LOL til I was in tears, esp when Mr. Hooper was in Hawaii - I've never seen a man that hairy before :scared1:; and different tears when Big Bird found out "Mr. Looper" wasn't coming back again :sad1:

Can't wait to see the next disc; I'm reading Jim Henson, The Works right now and these are a perfect complement :happytv:

cheers,
:flower3:

DH bought tix for Disney on Ice for this weekend  I haven't seen one of those for years so it'll be fun to see what the Princess edition is like princess:

We're going to Disney on Ice on 2/4 for my littlest ones birthday. I can't wait!

One of my friends son and his partner were Olympic hopefuls but I read in the paper the other day that he had a fall and she had a fall and now their Olympic dreams are over... for now. I was looking forward to watching him and telling my kids, "I know that kid!!!!"

Well done - with questions like those 3rd is really good (or 2nd - I don't think it should come down to a card draw ;) )

I've never heard of a costamonger :confused3 maybe barrowman or market trader! So did you get a prize?

One of my friends son and his partner were Olympic hopefuls but I read in the paper the other day that he had a fall and she had a fall and now their Olympic dreams are over... for now. I was looking forward to watching him and telling my kids, "I know that kid!!!!"

That is a shame because I could have said I know someone who knows that kid :rotfl:
I do hope they get back to it, must be so hard to be so close then have an accident and be out of it :sad2:

Good morning everyone - Happy Tuesday :goodvibes

Hope everyone has a great week and doesn't work too hard ;)

Good Morning Everyone!! Happy Tuesday!!!
(Today is my Friday, though, as I am going to Nashville for a Conference the rest of the week.)

Have a good day!!

Just found out today is Australia day :cool1:

Hope you all got the day off work? I only know this because Gav has had a burger on naan bread with beetroot for his lunch :rotfl: He is not impressed. They have naan bread because quite a few Indians work for the company - so it's a multinational dish :thumbsup2

Burger + naan bread + beetroot = bleughhhh

Now I know why Pete was so upset about beetroot on burgers. Certainly doesn't work for me!

Hello Everyone-

I am in need of some good thoughts and encouragement. I had a TERRIBLE Monday and now I am dealing with the consequences and feeling a bit alone.
Yesterday through a series of events, the water main into my condo broke and flooded my unit and my neighbors. This was bad enough, but today I found out that the Homeowners Association changed and (I had been unaware of the change as I was not living in the unit when it changed) I found out I am uninsured. I am simply not able to tell my husband that the thousands in repair costs will come out of our pockets. He has expressed his desire to sell the condo for years (right now it is rented out) and refuses to help with any maintenance. I can't deal with a "I told you so" today. It looks like a real possibility that the Podcast cruise will have to be cancelled. I am really heartbroken. I really believe in the power of positive thoughts and I could use some today as I figure out how to take care of this crisis.

Thanks for listening- even though I don't post often, I value the positive environment of the boards and the kind, funny, awesome people that belong to the DIS.

-Kelly

If your lil one has a princess costume, consider wearing it - there were lots of princesses in attendance, both young and not-as-young ones ;) They were selling really fancy light-up toys like hotcakes; one of them was a 3 foot sceptre that lit up in different colors with a massive gem at the top! princess:

Yeah, there was a real shake up for pairs - last year's champions finished 5th! :sad1:

I've never heard of a costamonger :confused3 maybe barrowman or market trader! So did you get a prize?

I'd never heard of it either and before I knew what it was, I thought it sounded like a good insult: "Oh yea, well you're a costamonger!!!!" :rotfl: :rotfl: We won a bunch of lottery tickets which we decided to pool and if any one of the tix won, we'd split the prize of $15M...if we won, that'd be fracking :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Here's two more I thought I should have known:
  1. Which famous dog comes from Daisy Hill puppy farm?
  2. What name is Barbara Millicent Roberts more commonly known as?

Highlight for answers!
  1. Snoopy
  2. Barbie (the doll)

I am in need of some good thoughts and encouragement.

Kelly, I feel absolutely terrible for you  What a pain to have to deal with. Remember your DH  you and will support you even if he gets in a "I told you so" first. In 50 years, this won't be what you remember...take care of yourself. There's quite a bit of time still to get a full refund on the cruise, so maybe don't cancel just yet. On a practical note, can you find out exactly what caused the burst? For instance if it is due to city working on another pipe or a neighbor caused it, perhaps you could persue them for damages and have them (their insurance) pay for it instead. :confused3 Sending pixiedust: your way!!! Glad you posted...lots of us our sending good thoughts your way...keep us posted on how things go :grouphug:

cheers,
:flower3:

I am pursuing filing with my city government because the licensed plumber stated that the pipe burst due to the meter being installed and not braced (ie the pipe was not supported and this caused the break) but I am not going to count on it. I would rather be pleasantly surprised if it works out than devestated if it does not.

Hello Everyone-

I am in need of some good thoughts and encouragement.

Oh, Kelly! I am so sorry about your miseries. I do hope that things will work out okay with the clean up and it doesn't have to come totally out of your pocket.
