Just found out today is Australia day :cool1:

Hope you all got the day off work? I only know this because Gav has had a burger on naan bread with beetroot for his lunch :rotfl: He is not impressed. They have naan bread because quite a few Indians work for the company - so it's a multinational dish :thumbsup2

Yummm - Naan! Yumm - Burgers! Ewwwwwwww - beetroot! Yuck!

Happy Tuesday folks! :wave2:

If your lil one has a princess costume, consider wearing it - there were lots of princesses in attendance, both young and not-as-young ones ;) They were selling really fancy light-up toys like hotcakes; one of them was a 3 foot sceptre that lit up in different colors with a massive gem at the top! princess:

Yeah, there was a real shake up for pairs - last year's champions finished 5th! :sad1:

I don't think she has a Princess dress because she is far more into Minnie and Daisy than the Princesses. Maybe she can wear her Minnie dress. Or.... maybe I will make her a dress!

Was it Rockne Brubaker that came in 5th? That's the kid I know.

I am pursuing filing with my city government because the licensed plumber stated that the pipe burst due to the meter being installed and not braced (ie the pipe was not supported and this caused the break) but I am not going to count on it. I would rather be pleasantly surprised if it works out than devestated if it does not.

 I hope it all works out!

In the UK we have 4 or 5 supermarkets that deliver food and other items. Some are better than others and delivery charges vary, we only tend to get a delivery if we get a good offer - free delivery, 20% off, save £5 if you spend £50 etc. It's very convenient esp. coming back from vacation when I can't face leaving the house let alone doing grocery shopping (the jet lag) One of them even has an iPhone app for ordering and editing your order :thumbsup2

That's cool! :thumbsup2

Hello Everyone-

I am in need of some good thoughts and encouragement. I had a TERRIBLE Monday and now I am dealing with the consequences and feeling a bit alone.
Yesterday through a series of events, the water main into my condo broke and flooded my unit and my neighbors. This was bad enough, but today I found out that the Homeowners Association changed and (I had been unaware of the change as I was not living in the unit when it changed) I found out I am uninsured. I am simply not able to tell my husband that the thousands in repair costs will come out of our pockets. He has expressed his desire to sell the condo for years (right now it is rented out) and refuses to help with any maintenance. I can't deal with a "I told you so" today. It looks like a real possibility that the Podcast cruise will have to be cancelled. I am really heartbroken. I really believe in the power of positive thoughts and I could use some today as I figure out how to take care of this crisis.

Thanks for listening- even though I don't post often, I value the positive environment of the boards and the kind, funny, awesome people that belong to the DIS.

Hang in there!

So sorry to hear this Kelly  I'm sure something of this magnitude your DH would understand - maybe an 'I told you so' but then help and support for you in this situation. I'll keep my fingers crossed that someone else was at fault and that it can be paid for from their insurance or whatever. Keep us updated, I'll be thinking of you.

Can't wait to see the next disc; I'm reading Jim Henson, The Works right now and these are a perfect complement :happytv:

cheers,
:flower3:

How's the book? it looks interesting...

Burger + naan bread + beetroot = bleughhhh

Now I know why Pete was so upset about beetroot on burgers. Certainly doesn't work for me!

I can't figure this out - my mom (Swedish) loves putting diced beets in her burgers. :scared:

If you need patterns I would be happy to snail mail DD's princess dress patterns that she has outgrown. I always trace the multi size store bought patterns so they can get multiple uses. What size do you need?

Happy Hump Day folks! :wave2:

Was it Rockne Brubaker that came in 5th? That's the kid I know.

Yes, they had disasterious skates: finished 7th in the Short program and
5th in the Long, finishing 5th overall. Since they were defending champions and of course an Olympic year, it was devastating to them. Of course there are cameras everywhere and one caught his partner, Keauna, having just a meltdown sob...heartwrenching. Their placement isn't a complete shock since they haven't been placing very well at competitions all year. Word on the street is they need to work on their basics again. However, it doesn't take away from them being high level athletes. :thumbsup2

Absolutely wonderful  Especially since I've always only enjoyed the Muppets as a viewer, so interesting to hear the background story. Some pretty funny insets. Well laid out with lots of pictures and fab storytelling. A very fun read...about half way thru it now and wondering if I should start to limit the number of pages I get to read each day :rotfl: :rotfl:

cheers,
:flower3:

Awwww... thanks so much for the offer!! I have so many patterns around here, I just need to go out into the cold breezeway and look for the one I need. Thanks!!!

I think I am going to see his mom on Saturday. I hope he is doing okay mentally. Poor kid.

Update:

Talked with city utilities today and despite the fact I have a city meter, they state a private company installed the meter so I will have to sue them for damages. UGH! On the bright side, the water extraction company is willing to give me a big discount for paying cash PLUS they talked to my very angry neighbor for me (a priceless service in my opinion). I got a quote to replace the carpet and it was very reasonable (only $300). Good thing I get paid tommorrow! Thanks for the support and well wishes. :lovestruc

Oh I am glad it's not all bad for you - sounds like the water extraction company have helped a bit too :goodvibes I hope it all gets sorted easily

Happy Thursday everyone - the weeks just seem to be zipping by at the moment :thumbsup2

Happy Thursday folks! :wave2:

Got a lot to do today - it's TGIF for us :thumbsup2 Have a fab weekend all :goodvibes

We're getting a lot of snow here again...here's a pic DH took that should warm us up! :cloud9:

cheers,
:flower3:

great picture Karen... I can see exactly where I was when I got my evil sunburn! :cool1:

We had a fish funeral last night. DD's first pet. I wish I would have video'd it. DH ran the ceremony. He allowed us the chance to say a few words, then recited very solemnly, the words of the immortal - Dr. Suess...One Fish Two fish - at least the first page or 2. Very appropriate for a blue fish.
He ended it with a rousing rendition of "When the Fish go Swimming up" to the tune of " when the Saints go Marching Down"

I have decided that this has to be done for me. Within the last week, my bank card was comprimised, luckily the bank shut down my card prior to any theft, I lost a battle with a canteloupe and now the fish. That's 3 I should be back on track right?

We have started to get better at bandaging and with a good bandage and a whole lot of patience, the only thing I really can't do is go to work. (yay for paid sick days!)

Wow that pic is awesome :thumbsup2 Did you stitch the pictures together yourself or have you got a program that can do it? I've seen a Sony camera that will do a panoramic picture - it tells you when to start and when to stop and puts it all together! I think I may well get that camera - it does HD video too :thumbsup2

 for your DD - so sad loosing a pet, but a good life lesson :goodvibes Sounds like it got the send off it deserved.
I do hope that is your 3 things - so did you try and chop your finger off? It always happens at the worse time  Hope it gets better soon. At least you can have a bit of time off work - that kind of makes up for it :thumbsup2
