OMG....DBF just texted me and asked if I would like to go to WDW the end of August / beginning of September....of course, you don't have to wonder what my answer was

He got a fabulous offer to stay at the Values for $69.00 a night !! So, I checked with my boss for the time off and we are going on Sept 4th through the 11th !!!

I'm so excited, I can hardly contain myself !!!! Oh, here's the best part....he's paying for it !! I did offer to purchase the airfare though....but that's ok...I'M GOING TO DISNEY in 51 Days !!!!!

We fly into Orlando for our Princess cruise and tried to justify a day in one of the parks then drive down to FLL first thing the next morning - but one day tickets are silly expensive - so we will be stuck with driving by the billboards dreaming of September in Disney!

We'll try to soothe our loss by thoughts of Southern Caribbean island breezes however.

I assume you will drive a rental car to Ft. Lauderdale. I did that for a cruise in April, and I took the turnpike all the way from WDW. However, there were NO gas stations between the turnpike exit to go to the airport (to return the rental car) - so I got stuck paying a LOT for Alamo to refill my gas tank! I would still take the turnpike, but next time I will get off one exit earlier and get gas, or pre-pay for a full tank when I rent the car.

Good Morning Everyone (although the morning is almost over)...had a busy weekend....working around the house and in the yard....such a nice weekend weather wise too....now the heat wave is coming our way....

Look into buying a 10 day, non-park hopper ticket, with no expiration date. We use that ticket for when we are only going to be in WDW for 48 hours or less. We will be at WDW three separate times over the next 12 months ... but each time, only for a few days. In our case, the 10 day ticket will last longer, and is cheaper than an Annual Pass. Actually, we have no-expiration tickets remaining from the 1990's ... we hold onto those for the same situation, as well.

Go MUCH sooner on DCL to Alaska...like THIS summer! Next year's Alaska itinerary is pretty crappy.

What's the difference in itinerary? The only difference *I* was aware of, was that most cruises were departing/returning to Seattle, versus Vancouver. Most U.S. travelers will find that to be a convenience, and a money saver ... while our neighbors to the north will think otherwise.

The difference in itinerary due to leaving from Seattle rather than Vancouver is the stop in Victoria on the last night. That in turn requires an earlier departure from both Ketchikan and Juneau. The short port time in Juneau is especially unfortunate. The first and last cruises next year don't stop in Victoria because they arrive or depart from Vancouver on one end, and those would be the only Alaska cruises I recommend on DCL in 2012.

I would have loved to stay in each port LONGER! Once we finished the excursions, there was not much time remaining.

So, do they still cruise Tracy Arm Fjords, and call on Skagway (for 2012)?

I booked my PCC 4.0 last week after debating for a month if I should go or not, being a single parent I wasn't sure if a cruise would be fun for me if my daughter wants to spend all her time in the kids clubs, worried I would be alone all the time. But after all the good feedback on PCC 2.0 I figured it might be worth it to give it a try.

Hello Everyone!

Even if it weren't a Podcast cruise, I think you would have more fun than you expect. DH and I have shared dinner tables twice with single moms travelling with their preteen daughters. Both mothers and daughters had a great time. They did excursions and other activities together, but also had time apart. Dinner was great fun, and when the daughters started getting bored they bopped off to the kids clubs. The best of both worlds.
