So, ds won the Young Author's competition at his school.:woohoo: We have to make a poster for the district competition now, and it has to have a pocket big and sturdy enough to hold his book. His book is in a binder! How am I supposed to do that? Any ideas?

Foamboard....often sold near the posterboard.

Also at office supply stores you can find "file jackets", file folders that expand to hold larger sized files.

Attach the file pocket to the foamboard through the inside back of the file jacket with brads and place the binder inside -- use lots of brads. If you do it from the inside of the file jacket you can't see them on the outside and then you poke them through the file jacket and the back of the foambaord and flatten the tabs.

Then you can decorate the foambaord with illustrations of events in said book, maybe even tack up an author bio. ;)

Looks like a trip to Hobby Lobby is in the future! It is due tomorrow. The instructions didn't tell us what the pocket was for. For some reason, we thought it was for votes or something, which would be easy to make. Now this! Ugh!

Uh-oh, you just said Hobby Lobby near my ears. Can you tell I have Staples/Hobby Lobby experience? Nothing like being an early childhood major having to make portable bulletin boards. file folder games, and other teaching tools to put me on the Staples/Hobby Lobby wall of shame....or else the person who funds their stock growth.........

Ah, see, I am HS English, so I don't have to deal with those crafty things. I do, however, make a wicked book editor, as evidenced by my son's win. :rotfl2:
