I've done rescue, and older dogs (for me) are so much easier and low maintenance. The only thing is that they may come with some emotional or behavioral issues that may not be at first apparent--puppies's personalities you can mold a little bit more. If we hadn't had gotten Boomer, we'd have gotten a retired racing Greyhound (I fostered them for years and loved every single one!),

I've never been around the greyhounds, but I have thought about them. I think with very alpha Sheena, we'd be much better off going the puppy route. She is dog aggressive, but I couldn't believe how she raced out to the fence every time she went outside last weekend to go see the puppy our neighbors were puppy sitting. Even when the puppy wasn't outside, Sheena was sure hoping he would be there. He's a half grown Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, so a little guy and of course it was all through a fence, but I've never seen Sheena act friendly to a strange dog before (she barked at first, but got over it quickly). Took her months to get to that point with our next door neighbors dog. Some of it could be Sheena maturing a bit, but I think having the dog be a pup and happy to see Sheena, as opposed to having an attitude himself helped somewhat.

But what am I talking about? I've promised myself that after Magic goes I'm not getting another dog! And after Sheena is gone I am sticking with cats! They are so much easier. No kennel bills, we can go away for a long day without someone in to let them outside and can even go away for the weekend. Not so much hair in the house, etc.

I went on the party bus with the wedding party for some of the bars. I lost my voice from being sick, not from yelling.
I think I am going to take a nap.

...But what am I talking about? I've promised myself that after Magic goes I'm not getting another dog!...

Oh, if I had a dime for every time I said that, and yet here we are with another one!!!! I'd love to have a hobby farm with tons of dogs and horses and some sheep and cows. Then again, I'm also trying to convince Dave that we should move to Manhattan after Chris goes to college... I feel like Zsa Zsa Gabor in Green Acres.

How honked are we talkin about here?...

I believe he was only semi-honked.

I understand about the animals. I am such a sucker. I said I wasn't getting another dog before Sheena came into our lives and then my sister needed a home for her and drove her here from Idaho. My poor husband was kind of ambushed about that--brought up my sister needing a home on a Saturday and he laughed it off, brought it back up on Sunday and she was leaving on her drive across the country on Monday (needed to know if she should bring the dog). My husband's answer was, "I like dogs". Of course I neglected to tell him Sheena's nickname--digger dog. And little did we realize that she sheds a whole dog of hair every week. Or would develop seizures. But not that my sister has a house and would have taken Sheena back if we wanted her to go, I refused to let her take her. Yep, I'm a sucker! And I know damn well that given the right set of circumstances, I'll end up with another dog after Magic.

Afternoon all!

Guess I'll have to check Sunny's Surplus on the way home and see if they have any "surplus" shelters.

Got a couple busy weekends coming up. This weekend I need to go to Costco, never made it last weekend. I just found out they have a Lane Bryant outlet store in Arundal Mills so I want to go there, luckily that is where the Costco is. On Sunday I am going to my sisters and we are having a seafood feast birthday party for my friends middle son. And my friend needs to move some stuff from self storage and she needs help, not sure when we are doing that.

Two weekends from now, my Aunt is coming from Missouri and we are having a family reunion of sorts. We are going to scatter my Uncles ashes and will have a cookout/crab feast too.
