Shug, you need math help! :rotfl2: But yes, I need a life! Keep in mind that I've been on here since the beginning--that's what the life of a SAHM with her kids in school will do, however. :rotfl: When my DH tells me to get a job then it will change. :rolleyes1

Hola amigas y amigos.

Dropping by to say 'howdy'.

Hey GoofyDad! I have been reading your trip report. You rank right up there with the best TR writers of all time. :yay:
I lovelovelove it! PLUS how did we miss each other that one day we stayed at the same hotel!

Good Morning. Happy Friday.

I never read trip reports. Am I strange? Is it because I hate writing trip reports of my own? That I find really weird, because I actually do ENJOY writing. Hmmmm

Maybe I am just strange.

Just stick with the "as they grow up, they really need you around more" philosophy. You have several more years with Jake.

You don't need to count. Just click on the "replies" next to the "last post". Another window will pop up and it tells you who posted & how many posts they have in the thread. :)

I couldn't find it either so thanks for the longer explanation. Of course, "go out of the thread" had me a little shocked. I can't do that! I am not done reading :confused3 :rotfl: It's like sacriledge or something.

I'm sorry I missed you! Next time I'll look a little more closely! :magnify: But here is what I would have put:

"Disneymom3's kids almost caused her husband to be taken out by an ugly and hairy woman."
It's okay! I was kidding. I would never have survived these two boys if I weren't tougher than that! But not as tough as the hairy lady! :lmao:

And for that ice cream....how the heck much is 150ml?? I bet I could work those in on my WW points!

BTW--good morning everyone!

I started writing a trip report and then I rather fizzled out on it. I swear sometimes I am sure I have ADHD! I would like to read them if I could just get to the report without all the extra pages of comments. Which I know is exactly what caused all the trouble over there so I won't be voicing that opinion!

What are the weekend plans? I have NONE.
I need some. Litterally. :teeth:

BIG daughter vent!

OMG, my DD is being a PITA! She's going with a group of people early in the morning (middle of the night, actually) to the beach (stopping at a friend's mom's house 1/2 hour from the beach). She just came and asked me if a half a tank of gas is enough to get there (gas is a lot cheaper there), so I was helping her think through it, and first pointed out that if she needed to get a little en-route she could since it's cheaper once she gets over the Bay Bridge. But then I remembered it would be in the middle of the night, so stations might not be open. She, in her lovely blonde moment, said, "stations aren't always open?" and I told her that they aren't and I have not idea which ones, if any, would be open on her way. Just a normal, conversation and I was trying to be helpful. Then she got totally dismissive (OK, MOM  ), told me I wasn't answering her question and she just wanted to know if she had enough gas to get there. How in the hell do I know--she's driven that car back and forth there lots of times (she's driving to where she goes to college). :furious: She can figure it out for herself! Brat!

And she's done nothing to help around the house the last few days, even though she knows that yesterday I had the killer migraine, but complains if there isn't a dinner for her when she's at home (she usually works evenings), so last night I made sure there was something that she likes. But she's found plenty of time to go shopping with one friend, to Starbucks with another, etc, etc. She will be broke for next school year since she's spending most of her money as she makes it. She doesn't learn the easy way!

disneymom3, my DH would like to have the best of all world--he wants me around in the morning to get Jake to school, me around in the afternoon to be here for the kids, wants me to get them to all their activities, wants me to clean the house, and wants me to find something to do to make money during the rest of the hours. Oh, and he wants me to be able to take off whenever he has vacation and I would need to be the one to take off when the kids are sick, have dr appts, etc. Keep in mind, I've been a SAHM for 19 years! Nevermind that I volunteer at Jake's school and am still having fun puttering around here. I'd rather do volunteer work, which can work around my schedule. Right now things are a bit tense because my DH's job is crappy with pay cuts, but this conversation started long before that.

Shug, have you heard anything about Lauri? I hope she's doing better today.

Someone asked about my head. It's better today, but the day after a bad migraine there is still residual pain, especially when I move around a lot. I was just vacuuming and since I hadn't done anything yesterday, I was trying to quickly do it so I could get more done--that was a mistake, though. Once I slowed down my head calmed back down. I just have to plug along and I do better. Rest and work, rest and work...

Chuck, you've showered, right? :rotfl2:

Hi redshoes!

Briarmom, no weekend plans, which is good. We've had baseball on weekends for months, so nothing for a couple weekends is good. I shouldn't say nothing--Jake has his last "mini" swim meet (preteam), but that will be over quickly since it's only his swim team. And a Sunday evening BBQ at friends house, but that's fun. Nothing that lasts the whole weekend, so it seems like nothing. :teeth:

OK, back to the vacuuming.

T&A~vacuuming sounds like something that could be done by an 18 year old DD to me. :rolleyes1 Sorry she is being a pain. I know I am a pain to my mom as well sometimes, and I am mucho older than 18.

Oh geez! So what this whole vent is telling me is that it never gets better! DD went to a baseball game with FIL yesterday. (Which is an issue in itself but we won't go there. Suffice it to say, two sad little boys were left at home.) So, he got her back after dinner time for some unknown reason and we were still at the table eating. She looks at the table and gives this disgusted look. "I told grandpa that if we were having spaghetti, I hoped I was late and missed dinner." I just looked at DH and he knew I was going to lose it. NOTHING is to this child's satisfaction lately. He told her to either sit down and eat or starve, we didn't care. And the killer was, it wasn't even spaghetti really, it was a really good chicken parmegiana. The boys had been sitting there raving about how yummy it was and then she comes in and turns up her nose. Later in the evening I then come upon her brother yelling at her. After telling him to chill out, I find out that she had been telling him he could not sing to the song on the radio. What a little snot!!

As for the DH, I know what you mean except that mine really wants me to homeschool. He is fully in support of it, yada yada yada. The public schools around here suck, etc. UNTIL he comes home from work and there is a science experiment all over the kitchen table and school work all over the counter. Yo dude! Have you ever tried to teach three grades at once in the same space and also keep it livable????

Whoo Hoo.......I'm number 7 on the list! :cheer2:

Hello all! Shhh, my phone has only rang a couple times today. And my boss just left for vacation...................... :woohoo:

We have a three day weekend because of a state holiday. I tried to talk my DH into a weekend trip, but no go (hmm, maybe I should just go myself). So as of last night our plans include a trip to the pool tonight, my Grandma's birthday on Sunday and a whole lot of gaps of nothing.

Weekend plans? Well, I'm working tomorrow! From 9-5. But at least I'll get time & a half for the hours. Sunday will be catch up day, laundry, etc.

T&B- I'm sorry about your DD. Maybe she woke up on the wrong side of her princess bed this morning, it happens to me all the time :rotfl2: .

disneymom3- I'm so impressed that you homeschool your kids, that's no small accomplishment!

T&B Lauri is doing a bit better today but not much really. She's resting today in preparation for company coming this weekend. I hope she recovers more before her mom gets there. If not, I've offered to come help out and I meant it. Hopefully, this is one of her shorter flare ups. Keep her in your thoughts today.

Briarmom, vacuuming is the thing that she blew off the other day that she's having to do today.

Yep, she did wake up on the wrong side of her princess bed. :rotfl:
She's all happy now--got her paycheck, so I'm sure she'll figure out a way to blow that. She really needs to find Mr Rich because she is clueless on how to live on a budget (and is a social work major, so that will not work with her spending).

DM3, I can so imagine my DD doing that with the dinner when she was younger! The whole attitude that the world revolves around her, in spite of the fact that there are other people in the family. Aly used to tell me all the time that she wished that she were an only child or at least that she wished that I had of had two kids. Who says that I would have had the first two? :rotfl2:

Shug, I saw Obi's update. I hope that Lauri gets rest today. What does her mom have that means that she needs so much care? (you don't have to answer, of course).

teva, still nothing from Becky!

luv, at the pool today? Jake has one more week of camp after this week. Then I'll be spending my time at the pool. He does like to hang around the house some playing video games with Zach, though, so I do get off easy some days.

DD went to a charter school for a couple of weeks last fall. (We are charter school dropouts....) I tell ya, getting everyone up and ready and out the door to get her to school on time almost did me in! I don't know how people do that everyday! Our goal is dressed, breakfast eaten, bedrooms in some semblance of order and dishwasher unloaded by 9:30 in the morning. Then I get half an hour break--to read the DIS of course--and we start school around 10. It is not very stressful, really.

Coming up with what to teach and HOW to teach it can do me in once in awhile, but most of the time (so far at least) they do figure it out. I think it is all about mindset and lifestyle. I love the freedom that homeschooling offers us. For instance, we are going to Yellowstone Sept 2-10. :Pinkbounc Low crowds and no missing school. I LOVE that. DD has pretty much gotten to the point at 10 that she is pretty self directed in the 3Rs. She does her math and reading and most of spelling on her own. Comes to me when she gets stuck which frees me up to work with DS who just finished K to get him reading, working his math etc. That takes a lot more work and involvement, but thanks to DD I can see the light. Then we have DS4 who I am just not teaching. :teeth: I think he is going to figure it all out on his own long before we are ready. :rotfl:

I was supposed to be off the computer now, but my kids all abandoned me and went out to play. No complaining here!
