Calling my daddy has always made me feel better. He doesn't sound good tonight. My gut keeps telling me it's not going to be all that long. He's 76, it's not a shocker but still I love my daddy For his sake I do hope I outlive him. If I didn't it would kill him.

On the parent front, we found out today that my FIL does NOT have lung cancer or emphysema. He has idiopathic (cause unknown) pulmonary
fibrosis, which is a scarring of the lung tissue. I haven't googled to understand what exactly it means, but according to my MIL he probably has a few years at most. And he's had it for awhile already.

On the parent front, we found out today that my FIL does NOT have lung cancer or emphysema. He has idiopathic (cause unknown) pulmonary
fibrosis, which is a scarring of the lung tissue. I haven't googled to understand what exactly it means, but according to my MIL he probably has a few years at most. And he's had it for awhile already.

Not a good day for health news around here Is that bad news or worse news?? People can live for years with emphysema, my mother being proof of that. I don't have any experience with lung cancer though. A few years is good especially if he's had it awhile already isn't it? Or does she mean the clock started ticking a while ago and he didn't know it? How old is he? And is he a smoker?

I had to take DD to the Ice Cream Social event at her school. I don't know why they call it that. They should call it the "Too many children all of whom are screaming at the top of their lungs in a confined space that is so small you can't walk through it and forget the ice cream 'cause the line is too damn line" event.

Anyway, I already had a headache when I left work....the two accidents on the Beltway and hour and a half of bumper to bumper made it significantly worse and the hell on earth I just came from pushed me over the edge into nausea....don't know how long I'll be around before I puke and pass out.

I may have to give in and start getting some real meds to deal with these headaches.

Thing 1 went to play at a little girl's house that he goes to all the time. The mother has always been welcoming, but he was told tonight that he has to come over before the stepdad comes home from work because the stepdad doesn't like him. Then he told me, "But mom, he doesn't like me for a really horrible reason........because I'm Mexican."

So I cuddled him and told him that firstly, he is American. Secondly, he is half European ancestry and half native Mexican ancestry. We talked about the French and UK histories and the Inca and Maya histories.

I told him he is a credit to me and his father and all his ancestors, and if that man chooses to label him without getting to know him then it is his loss. I told him small minded idiots are everywhere, but they are the ones that are un American because true Americans are tolerant and inclusive people historically. I told him it shouldn't matter about heritage, race, beliefs, gender or sexual preference, but people should be judged on who they are and that who he is, is a wonderful, bright, kind, loving AMERICAN kid with a rich heritage.

How can people be so completely ignorant and MEAN!!! It seems like I'm surrounded by intolerant people all of the time and it's really starting to piss me off! I would like to get through one day without hearing people being bashed because of their sexual orientation or race. I know I live in the south, but seriously, it's ridiculous!

Dont make me come out there and go teo on that small minded man who prolly has no idea what his ancestry is. What impresses me most about all ethnic groups whether they are italian, irish, mexican, etc, is they know their family history they know WHERE they came from and WHAT it took for them to get where they are. Not many plain ole white people can say the same. I always wanted to be part of an ethnic group, it just always seemed so neat
