PM EMH drops from THREE Hours to TWO Hours

I keep reading that those staying on-site feel with the reduction in EMH it will leave them with nothing to do in the evenings.

All I have to say is there is more to Orlando than just Disney World - you just need to venture outside the Disney bubble :confused3 ... you just might be surprised at what you find out there ;)

That's very true. But, a lot of people don't like to rent cars and drive in unknown areas. And then you have PI...Disney went and killed that pretty effectively. Now, if we don't want to rent cars, we are stuck there, onsite. I think we may actually start seeing more people renting cars to head out and do other stuff. City Walk is getting more and more appealing. Maybe a few nights at US/IoA vs those few nights at WDW.

We've recently done a day or two at Universal when we've been down on long trips and one of the things that bugged us were the shorter hours. But if Disney is going to cut back (especially while increasing prices!) then it all starts to even out and makes Universal even more likely. I think we'll have to check out Sea World which I haven't been to since sometimes in the 80's!

wow so this is making it easier and easier to stay offsite in my parents time share!

just need to buy MNSSHP and MVMCP and i can get my fill of late night activities in the MK.

Renting a car isn't the only option ... there are always taxis abundantly available at Disney - although it might be a bit expensive to take a taxi around Orlando .... really you aren't stuck onsite as there are options available.

Somehow I do not see $10 E Ticket night returning. Maybe $30-$50 Eticket night. No way would I pay that. Now $10 was a bargain. :goodvibes

I've been off the boards for awhile so I have to ask what's exactly is XPass/Fastplass Plus ? Sorry if it's been discussed before.

I'm happy to be a DVC owner.

I'm happy to stay on-property.

I'm happy I drive most of the time now.

I'm happy I know my way around greater Orlando... WELL.

I'm happy to leave property.

I'm disappointed that I have to leave property to eat just because the food service has become overpriced and underquality.

I'm disappointed that PI was closed and never re-vamped or replaced.

I'm disappointed that it's come to a point that we have to leave but we weren't left many options, were we?

Guess this means the Mouse is going to start charging for EMH with the fast-pass plus. I hope morning EMH cuts aren't next. This really does reduce the appeal to staying on site. I appreciated and used PM and Am EMH becasue we go in slow season when the parks close early, leaving a lot of night left and nothing to fill it with.:(

Xpass/Fast Pass Plus is a new system WDW is testing where guests can book an itinerary in the park up to 4 rides at present (which ride at which time) and then you have to show up at that appointed time to ride. It is being tested with the thought that people can book this itinerary from home before they come to WDW, the further out you book the more rides or character greetings you get to book (maximum of 4 at present I think) Jim Hill media has good discussions of the current testing program. no-one really knows when WDW may implement the system, or in what form.

try this

We trended towards EMH, after the change to FP. I guess, Disney just hates us. :rolleyes1

This August we already lost the 3am EMH nights for 2am EMH nights (park closes at 11 not midnight). Next year it would be 1am :(

If the late nights are going away permanently, we may consider staying off site. I have always wanted to try the new Waldorf Astoria anyway...:rolleyes1

We love the Waldorf and this will push us to staying there more often. We are anxiously awaiting The Four Seasons and I am sure that would push us off site forever without some great benefits from Disney.

I just heard it from a Cast Member who works in Transportation (he drives the Seven Seas Lagoon boats). I know that's not exactly "official" but it's another source.

For me??? That would be a huge yes!!! I loved the E-Nights. You will find that a lot fewer people will actually pay for that perk. I guess we pretty much did pay for EMHs with increased room rates though. I would prefer to pay for E-Nights vs higher room rates.

I agree, I loved the E-ticket nights, was so worth it, I hope they reinstate.

The first time or infrequent visitor will not know the difference. This is the only group that Disney cares about. All of us Disney freaks are expendable. I am :( at all the cutbacks.

This is very true. The majority of the people who visit Disney World do not keep coming back year after year. Its a trip maybe every few years, if that. Dropping 1 hour from evening EMH will make very little difference to this group. Many will not even know what they're missing.

This is all too true. AP holders used to get the first resort discounts, now we are far down the line after FD and GP offers. Disney has determined that frequent visitors don't spend enough and potentially clog up parks so I don't think they want us anymore.
