Plz answer a ques. I SHOULD know!!

Okay...I am a bit confused.

I have an Aug UY. Since DVC goes by "check out" dates for ressies, does that mean that the last night I can book a room for my current UY is July 30 (checking out July 31), or can I get one more night (checking in July 31, and out Aug 1)? I can't seem to solve this in my head, and MS is closed.

We have never stayed at the end of our use year but I have always thought that July 31 would go into the current use year and not the next. I thought you were going to ask why the guys at the Norway Pavillion aren't as nice to you as they used to be. I think I know the answer to both questions.

If you don't use all your points for your August 2004 Use Year by July 31st, then you lose whatever points have not been banked.

My understanding is that if you are checking out on August 1, then you are actually using the points for the night of July 31, so you should be OK. I would call MS 1st thing Monday morning to check though, and get the name of the CM you speak to.

The arrival date (for each day of the stay) must fall within the appropriate Use Year for those points to be valid. The check-out day requirement is only needed to define when the reservation may be made.

If you have an August Use Year, those points may be used for any dates thru July 31 (checking out on Aug 1).

The check-out date is only used to determine when you can make the reservation. It has nothing to do with what use year the points come from.

With an August Use year month, any given use year would include all nights from Aug 1st through July 31st.

In your case, a vacation stay for the evening of July 31, 2005 comes from your 2004 Use Year. You would be checking out the morning of Aug 1, 2005.

If you wanted to stay one more night, the night of Aug 1, 2005, then points for that night would need to come from your 2005 use year. (And you would be checking out on Aug 2nd.

Sometimes it helps to make yourself a Use Year chart for your particular UY month. An August UY chart looks like this:

Use Year.....Vacation Dates (inclusive)
2003.....Aug 1, 2003 through July 31, 2004
2004.....Aug 1, 2004 through July 31, 2005
2005.....Aug 1, 2005 through July 31, 2006
2006.....Aug 1, 2006 through July 31, 2007
2007.....Aug 1, 2007 through July 31, 2008
2008.....Aug 1, 2008 through July 31, 2009
2009.....Aug 1, 2009 through July 31, 2010

and so on.

Got it!! Thanks so much!!! I REALLY hate WDW in July, so I will probably never run into this problem. I assumed it was by "check-in" date, but then I started thinking about how 11 & 7 month window ressies go by "check out" date, and I got a little confused.
