Plus-Sized and the Spa?

I am a plus size Massage Therapist and I just wanted to let you all know I prefer to give a massage to a plus size man/woman. It is a lot easier to do petrissage on a larger person than a person who has no *fluff* at all!

I am going on my first Magic Cruise January 14 and I am sooo looking forward to a spa treatment. It's my turn now! :bounce:

This question is not really about the Spa--but I am Plus also--concerned about weight gain on a 4 day cruise.
I don't want to have to starve myself so that my clothes will fit.
I read on these threads about people gaining 8-12 lbs!!!
One man had to wear his bathing suit to get off the ship as his pants would not fit.

I am plus size and ate what I wanted on the 4 day . I had no trouble with my clothes fitting me. I admit we didn't eat many snacks as we were full from the 3 meals a day. I did order room service cookies twice. I also didn't get much excercise as I was recovering from a herniated disc. I didn't try the spa due to embarrassment of my size. Maybe in June I will give it a go!

on my last cruise Feb 2005, my daughter and I generally only ate at the 3 meals and we ate well, Suprisingly we actually lost weight. Goes to say if you eat right and on a regular time line and keep busy you can actually lose pounds. We exercised more than we did at home so don't be worried. Of course don't starve yourself, but eat a little of everything that way you will enjoy all the aray of foods. Now, we didn't have any of the adults beverages and I know those can bring on the pounds, so yes becareful there.

But it is vacation enjoy everything :earsgirl:

We plan to eat a sensible breakfast and lunch and enjoy dinner. DH and I walked the deck a few times before we went to bed every night!

I would have to agree with travelbug24...I too am a massage practitioner...and I much prefer more body when doing any sort of bodywork. I am also plus size 18-20 and was a little worried about the whole suit issue on our first cruise DCL of course. Our friends told me the same things everyone here is saying. And it was true! It was just a whole bunch of normal mommy's with normal mommy bodies! It was fabulous! I felt very comfortable and relaxed. So let loose, have fun, enjoy yourself & just be! :goodvibes

ME LIKEY THE SPA!!!!!!!!

DON'T deprieve yourself of a wonderful experience. There are all shapes and sizes to be found in the spa, and they will work with you to make sure that you are comfortable.

Enjoy yourself...you deserve it!!!

[ For next year's cruise we plan on booking a Spa Villa, so now I won't have to worry about walking through the hallways in just a robe. :teeth:

Oh and regarding the size of the massage table, that was just fine! :)[/QUOTE]

What are the spa villas? Inquiring minds want to know.

The spa villas are private treatment areas with a massage table inside and a lounge bed and private hot tub out on the verandah. Absolutely decadent and wonderful! We did two different couples packages in the villas and loved both of them. Besides the treatment, you get some time in the hot tub beforehand and tea afterwards.

There have been a few pictures of the spa villas from recent cruisers, and they look BEAUTIFUL. The cost is quite high, but people who have been there are really loving it. DH and I are still doing our "Play in the Mud" Rasul. Even though the villas sound wonderful, I prefer the private time. ;) DH on the other hand is becoming a spa junkie ever since he had a massage on the cruise. That to him means he is on vacation, so I have him booked for one of the first massages of the cruise right after the sail away party, and ending with an open cabana on Castaway :cool1: . Oh, and he is a "plus sized" Daddy... :goodvibes ...and the robes fit him fine too....
