We are going in march with 3 kiddos 8.5.2. Is it worth it. also which rooms are closest to the pool. all help is greatly appreciated.

You will probably want to see what it is like so go for it, but we stayed at the Poly lagoon view for 11 days and did conceirge. It was nice but I wouldn't do it again. First of all, you kind of feel compelled to eat breakfast there every day, which is ok I guess but I like to try other places too! I think we ate the night offerings only once!!! We were either out at the parks or on our way to dinner. The desserts and drinks at night were nice though!!! Enjoyed it once, but probably wouldn't do it again.

I think you make a good point about feeling compelled to eat breakfast there.
I don't want to feel "tied down" but would also enjoy the extras. :earsgirl: :earsboy: princess: princess: princess:

We stayed in a garden view at the Poly about 12 years ago and loved it. Our DD was 4. We're going back in November again garden view. I personally don't feel it's necessary for a lagoon view or concierge. The grounds are beautiful. In the evening the tiki torches are lit, there's music playing. So relaxing after a busy day. Can't wait to get back there!

There are 2 pools -- the volcano pool and the quiet one. On our last visit we stayed at Hawaii (which was not concierge at that time). It was a great location for the pools.

Good luck!

I just returned yesterday. IMHO I couldn't imagine not staying LVC. As you probably know, the lounge is not a replacement for meals except maybe breakfast. So I wouldn't say it's "worth it". We mainly used the lounge to grab a cool drink & snacks for the kids. The pool is steps from the building so it really wouldn't make a difference what room you were assigned.

The time of year that you go makes a difference too. Since we went in August, the parks were open later so we ended up sleeping longer in the mornings & cancelling alot of AR's. The lounge was good for grabbing something to hold us over until lunch.

We find concierge worth it not for the "value" of the food but rather for the conveniece! It so great to be able to grab snacks, milk, juice, and PBJ's for the kids without having to go to Captain Jacks. We also really like that 1 adult can take the kids to the lounge while the other gets ready for the day. Sure an adult could take the kids to Captain Jacks but its so much easier to just take them down the hall. My kids really love concierge. And it is nice not to worry about which longhouse you'll be assigned to.

We love it for the drinks and snacks. Sometimes we find it late past a meal and it can tide us over until we decide where to go next. BUT with the dining plan we did not feel that it was needed this trip. With the dining plan being "free" (I know that is another thread), Conci. is just a wasted cost this trip. Our biggest value with the lounges were water for the parks.

We stayed at the Polynesian, LVC, just last month. I think everyone's version of "is it worth it", can be very different. For me/us, it was MORE than worth it for the convenience of the location of the Hawaii building. Then on top of that, the view we had from our room and balcony were breathtaking! Unbelievably outstanding! (See my pictures on my web site!). I had imagined, before the trip, a wonderful view, but the reality even topped my expectations, and that was a surprise in and of itself! :flower: I was blown away by the view from our room (#3517).

In addition, we had the pre-planning concierge staff handle a few things for us, besides the usual restaurant reservations. I asked them to get the gold Mickey ears with our names embroidered on them, and they did. I asked about having a small wedding cake delivered to our table at 'Ohana on the night of our anniversary (this was a special cake I ordered through the Wedding Cake department of the Grand Floridian Bakery, not a cake made at the Polynesian), and they handled this perfectly for me!

I also liked having beverages available during the day and evening. I liked being able to grab a quick breakfast in the morning. We didn't make it to all of the evening offerings, and we didn't make it to the any of the dessert and cordial offerings, but it was good to know they were there for us, and our DSs. We did have some of the cookies, soda, and other snacks during the day :sunny:

It was was worth it to have a nice, relaxing, with snacks, to stay in while waiting for our limo to pick us up on our last afternoon :)

We are staying Poly LVC next weekend for the first time! :cheer2:
We usually stay LV at the GF but wanted to do something different! I'll let you know!

Only you can determine if it's "worth it". If you're happy at a budget motel when you travel, then probably not. If you plan on every waking hour in the parks, then probably not. If you want downtime, a place to relax and socialize other than your room, more personalized attention, and upgraded amenities, and it will work in your budget, then go for it!

As an FYI, we've never felt compelled to have breakfast in the lounge anymore than we've felt compelled to have breakfast in our room when staying on our DVC points. We refuse to nickle and dime our lives.

We don't look at concierge to the value of the offerings in the lounge, but rather for the value of having private check-in, a place to escape the masses, and upgraded amenities.

We would probably not stay at the PR if it wasn't waterview concierge, the view at night is exquisite.

You are close to both pools.

This sounds great! What is the price for all this pampering? :earseek: I booked a GV at the Poly for May - but I would consider switching to GVC or LVC since we are going for our 10 year anniversary and our first trip together (plus two kids ages 6 and 4). Would love to know how much more I would have to pay. I also am on the dining package.

Thank you for that valuable link at allearsnet! Now, the question is, can I hide this additional cost from my DH to surprise him?! :smooth:
