Visiting Disney in a month. We wanted to visit Pleasure Island with our children (daughter is 9 1/2 and son is 6). Would this be appropriate if we go early evening? Comments and suggestions welcomed and appreciated. :Pinkbounc

Prepare yourself for an unsolicited Sunday School lesson on this topic. That said, we've taken our young'uns, when they were still young, to PI to catch the first Comedy Warehouse show of the evening and to pop into the Adventurer's Club. After that, they pretty much didn't want to stay. There will be adults consuming adult beverages and, I'm told, scantily dressed young women. I indulge the former and search for the latter but I've never seen anything I won't see on Main St. USA any Fri. or Sat. night in the summer. I'd advise you to give it a look if you've got Plusses to burn but I wouldn't pay cash to get the kiddies into the CW or the AC. You can stroll the area for free but the clubs require an admission fee.

I agree with Bill.

We've taken our children in the early evening to AC and let them see what it is all about but haven't stayed very late.

There was a time when PI was ok with kids (just) and at the risk of sounding like a Sundy School lesson (a novel idea, since no one who knows me would ever accuse me of being anything like a Sunday School teacher!) I wouldn't take children to PI. If you would take them to a bar at home--and I mean a BAR, not a bar/restaurant), maybe PI is for you. If you wouldn't, you may want to skip it or get a sitter for that night.

Also, consider the idea that PI was intended to be an adult's night out. Any more, you'll find mostly teens getting drunk, but it was originally intended to be a night club spot for grown-ups. And while the CM's will tone down their show at Comedy Club and Adventurer's Club, it's a shame they have to modify their acts because there's a 6 year old in the crowd. Still, if you paid for it, you're welcome to take your tots.

I just think there are much better places to take the family for an evening out. The kids aren't likely to 'get' the jokes at AC or CC, and they certainly aren't going to enjoy the night clubs (the ones they can get into). Why subject them to it and other adults to the child-friendly show?

Sorry if that sounded 'preachy', but it's my opinion. If you do go, post and let us know if the kids had fun. :)

My husband, son (11 yr old) and I went to PI with my husband's sister one night. I thought it was a waste of time for us. We stayed about 1 hour (or less), walked around a bit and then went back to SSR. We're not into clubs or bars. We don't drink or smoke. We won't go back to PI again. Not our style.

I made the mistake of taking my niece (10 yrs old) to Adventurer's Club one night, even though it was pretty early, she felt uncomfortable. She was the only kid there and there were a couple very tipsy and loud people at the bar. So personally I won't be taking any more kids to PI. I just think it was really be made to be an adult enviroment and with so much other stuff to do at Disney I'll be skipping PI unless I can go adults only.

ej9600...this is always a highly contested topic...be prepared for a wide array of responses...Bottom line, you know your kids, you know what they can handle and can't handle. It is your choice, but keep in mind that the clubs at PI are bars, where alcohol is served, and you may be exposed to some of the behavior that drinking adults sometime exhibit...Not that I would ever act like that...

I agree with an above poster. If you would take your kids to a bar 'bar' (not a restaurant/bar but an actual bar) then I saw go with you already do. If you do not take your children into bars and would rather not expose them to adult entertainment such as that is what the Comedy Club and the AC are, then do not take them to PI. There are plenty of other things to do in WDW other than going to PI with your children.
