Hey guys,
OK changed from CSR to ASMo Resort for the first week of October, the reason.....having an additional $600.00 to spend at WDW....We won't be in the room that much anyway, however, extremely nervous about this move because I have read a lot of negative posts about the value resorts and I would love some positive input on this resort.....It will be me, DH and 2 yo DS...thanks guys.....

ASMo is one of my favorite resorts. We took our 2 yo DS there and he loved it !!!! Especially the Toy Story section and the Herbie the Love Bug water fountain. As you said, you don't spend much time in the room, and with only one DS, space won't be a problem. The food court is alot better with kids than the resorts with full service IMHO. I think you made a great choice and will love it. Have a great trip !!!!! :earsboy:

I think saving $600. is a great reason to love ASMo. Your 2 year old will love it. It is perfect for kids. The kids pool area is lots of fun and the food court has several choices and I personally order the kids pancake meal for breakfast. It is not too much...just enough. I know alot of people complain about the bus system but I don't think it is that bad. If ASMo is busy they get a bus to themselves and do not have to share with sports or music. I am also willing to wait a few more minutes if I am saving $600. I would suggest not getting a preferred room or one facing the pools. It can get loud and busy and can stay that way till late a night. It is hard to get a little one to take a nap/go to bed with all the action happening right outside your room.

I've stayed in Movies and loved it. We were in the Herbie section, which was a little bit of a walk but still great. Food court was great, people great, we never waited for busses. It was a great trip. I wouldn't hesitate to go back. We're only going to the Pop this time to try out something new.

And just imagine all the great things $600 can buy!

I've stayed at every resort level and to be honest, HAVE FUN!

The extra money is WELL WORTH IT , so stay at All-Stars and enjoy yourself! Now you can eat at new places, take behind the scenes tours, and do other great stuff!

Like you said, if your only spending your time in the room SLEEPING there is NOTHING to worry about. One way or another, every resort at WDW is great and will have it's pro's/con's. I had a MUCH BETTER time at Pop (another Value) then at the Grand Floridian, GO FIGURE!

Have the time of your life!

We stayed there last fall for 10 days, and we loved it! We stayed in the Toy Story section, which my boys (3 and 15 months then) absolutely loved....my now 4 yo says that was his favorite thing, the giant "toys". We used the pool several times, the main pool, and it was fine. It was clean, and just right for us. We didn't need a slide, because the boys can't swim anyway. The food court was really good, I loved the taco salad (ate it 5 times) and DH enjoyed the London Broil meal (came with mashed potatoes and I think green beans), he had that twice. We didn't have a bad meal at the food court, everything was fine. We only had to wait more than 10 minutes for a bus one time, that was for the Epcot morning bus, and we waited about 15 minutes. Yes, they were crowded at closing, but that is not only the value resorts, it's just the way it is when so many people are going from the same place to the same place. The only reason we aren't staying there this trip is because the rooms with the free dining were all full for our dates when we changed our trip 2 weeks ago. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, have a great time!

We've stayed there twice, once in the Toy Story section and once in the Dalmations section. It's our favorite value resort. The first time we stayed there our dd was almost 2, the second time she was almost 3, and she loved it! The bright colors, everything larger than life, it was perfect for her "intro" to Disney. Now she's a vet and has stayed at all levels of resorts, but she still remembers those trips because of the large icons at the resort.

I think you made the absolutely right decision!! ASMo is a wonderful resort; so much fun, and there isn't a resort that's more "Disney"!!! Your little one will adore the giant icons, the food court is awesome, and the rooms are cheerful. We stayed there many times with our ds when he was younger and I think you'll find the rooms to be perfectly sized for your family.

Go and have a wonderful time, especially knowing how much $$ you saved! :teeth:

Loved Movies! Stayed in the Dalmation building and the photo ops are awesome there. Lots of puppies and big dogs to take pics by - really a fun themed area. The pools are great - both the Fantasia pool and the Mighty Ducks pool.

The food court is GREAT. Did I mention the food court is great?! We ate there alot and it was wonderful for a quick breakfast before heading to the parks.

Bus service was terrific, no problems.

If we weren't going with two teenagers, I'd be staying there next trip, but the rooms are a little small for 2 teen girls and all their JUNK! ;) Room size should be perfect for you and your family. :)

We don't have kids, are in our early 40s and we love the Movies. Sure, the moderates are great but for the money, the values are just fine and dandy. You will have a great time and you won't regret your decision.

We LOVED AS Movies, and so will you!! We just stayed there in May, found it lovely!! Its by far the best of the Values!!

I have stayed at all levels too (deluxe, mod, value), and my stays at All-Star Movies (4) have all been great! I went twice with my family and my sister's kids LOVED the hotel. They were 2&1 and then 5,3, and 18mos. My nephew was VERY impressed with Toy Story and my niece loved poking her head through the TV set near dalmations. The pool was great and I liked the food and I second how good the taco salad is.. also I like the Chicken Quesadillas. The only complaint that I would have is waiting for the buses seems a little longer when it was more crowded, but this has happened at POFQ and CS with me too. I think that you will have a great time and I think it is a great introduction for your son to disney world- mickey is back at the hotel, along with Toy story, dalmations, and lots of other fun characters!

We stayed at ASMo for our last night in May. Got the Toy Story buildings much to the happiness of our sons.

We are going back in September and staying at the same place. The kids are looking forward to it!!!

The Pros:
GREAT Food Court
Kids LOVE the theming (as do adults)
Nice Pool
Bar at Pool
Still on Disney Property which is nice for Disney Transportation, but also to keep the "magic" going even when not in the parks.

The Cons:
Slightly smaller rooms than Moderate resorts
No refrigerator in room ($10 fee per day if you want one...you would be better to buy one at Wal-Mart!)
Buses are busier since there are more people at the value resorts

We normally stay deluxe(CR, WL, AK), however, our stay at ASMo was Great! It was DD's 4th birthday, and the CM's were wonderful. Every evening after returning from the parks, DD wanted to play in the Toy Story section. The Fantasia, and Mighty Ducks pools were great. The rooms were a bit small, but the price tag more than made up for it! Enjoy the "extra" $600, and ASMo!

WOW, AWESOME, THANKS SO SO SO SO MUCH YOU GUYS!!!! I am really excited about it now, you have no idea how much your comments mean to me.....Thanks again.....Have a Disney Evening!!!

OMG! Ditto -- DH and I planned a anniversary trip in October for POR w/ free dining. Then Vacation Express offered that $56/RT fare, and we moved our trip up to September so my mom, my dad (ugh), my bro (who hasn't been to WDW since 1989 and had his leg reattached after an industrial accident 2 yrs ago), DD2 and DH and I all decided to make a fam trip of it. I canceled DH and my trip for the family trip at ASMo (thanks to the free dining -- that seems to be where the value is!!). Still can't believe we got my killjoy dad to agree to it!!

Anyway, thanks for this -- it was a real pick-me-up!!

I love this postive thread on ASMo's! :cool1: We are staying there for our first family vacation to WDW this upcoming October.

we stayed at ASMo for part of our trip last month, and we loved it! The kids thought it was a blast, and my dh and I were pleasantly surprised (after having read some of the neg things on here). We really enjoyed our stay there...the rooms were not as small as I had feared, the food court was great, and we had no problems w/the busses. HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for this thread! I will be at ASMo in 10 days (well I dunno but maybe WDW is more excited about my trip cuz their website says 9 days but it's 8/15 and I get there on the 25th :confused3 ) Anyway, this thread gave me a warm fuzzy feeling about being there. :Pinkbounc

We loved the ASMO last year and so did the kids. We stayed in the Toy Story section and it was fabulous. The girls loved "Andy's room" and the Polar Bear looking kiddie splash area. We only stayed there one night and then moved over to the Poly. (Came in early d/t Hurricane Frances). When we make another trip (hopefully sooner than later...trying to squeeze one in either October or December) I'm thinking ASMO will be our destination.
