And if you got them...;)

We are staying BW view 1 bed this july. I think iam going to request floor 3 or above..(so that I get a slatted balcony)

Did you find that online check in or checking in early/late helped or hindered you?:)

We always request high floor, away from the elevator. We like being close to the stairs. It is hit or miss - sometimes we get a room on the 4th or 5th floor, and we have gotten a room on the 1st floor. I think our room at BWV has only been ready once when we checked in before the official check in time.

Upper floor, close to elevator.

We dont like being at the Jelly Rolls End as much.

Our flights always arrive so that we are at the resort by 10 or 11 in the morning. I would say that our rooms are ready at that time about half of the time. If not, usually we get the text in the early afternoon. We always use on line check in (and no ME - don't know if that makes a difference)

Do you normally get these requests honoured?....:)

Boardwalk view rooms are not quite "close to elevator" because the first set of rooms from the elevator are the ones with view of the center courtyard (Village Green) which are not considered boardwalk view rooms.

Also, requesting 3d floor or above does not assure a slated balcony. Requesting a room in the Crest of Waves section, where all balconies are the slate/concrete with railing you can see through type porches, would get you that. But the rooms over the Big River Grill are mostly wood porches and some of those over the main store even above 2d floor also are.

Usually the only request we make is that we do not want a first floor room which is right at boardwalk level in the Crest of Waves section and there are only a few. We actually like the wood porches because they are huge in comparison to the rail porches but we are fine with either. Since we have never gotten one of those first floor rooms, our request has been met regardless of whether we use on-line check-in or regular check-in

Do you think I might be better to phrase it "close to lobby" rather than "close to elevator"...Will they understand that I mean don't stick me down in crest of the wave...:lmao:

I didn't realise that about the balconys above the grille...are they solid wall or half solid wall half slats...

I agree about the 1st floor rooms...i would HATE to get one of them..

Take a look at this picture which has almost all the boardwalk view rooms in it (there is a little missing on left side of picture) and you can see the various porch configurations (where the red is are mostly wood porches with walls on the sides of each porch; from right to left you have Jellyrolls, Crest O Waves, Big River Grill and then the main store): http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl...e=13&ndsp=10&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:120&tx=77&ty=81

The elevator is closer to any rooms than the lobby. There are no boardwalk view rooms actually close to elevator or lobby because the first rooms moving away from the elevator/lobby area are the Village Green rooms. If you want to avoid Crest of Waves and Big River Grill, You might request a room above the main store, which is one continuous store with three names as you move down the boardwalk: Screen Door General Store, Disney's Character Carnival, and Thimbles and Threads .

I always request top floor with a boardwalk view 1 bedroom and most of the time end up on 3 or 4. There is a 1 bedroom on the 5th floor that is close to the elevator but it's actually over the corner of the Village Green that I had once (5051). Most of the 1 bedrooms are farther down the hall. I had one once over the store but the rest of the time have been over Big River or in Crest O the Wave. It's never been a big deal, we have used the steps at the end of the hall, it takes you out behind Jellyrolls, you can then walk over the bridge to the Swan if you want to catch the boat.

My biggest fear is getting one of those 1st floor rooms, I would hate being right on the boardwalk with people walking by.

So So true!!...about the fear of getting one of those 1st floor rooms..I actually think I would be ok with anything other than that!;)

But I don't want to request "no first floor" incase they misread it and think I WANT first floor!!:scared1:

I think Iam thinking this through too much...i should just say upper floor and be done with it!:)

:thumbsup2...See I actually wouldn't mind those wooden porch balconys..because they still have slatted fence so I could see sitting down. Its the ones on the 2nd floor that all seem to have solid walls hence not being able to see unless standing.:)

What you will find is that the fifth floor is also solid wall on the outside but with a little railing at the top of it. For other floors other than second the walls left and right block any view in those directions and you get an additonal partial blockage just because part of the outer area of the balcony is just wall. I really like most any of them and actually like those wooden porches because they are huge.

As I mentioned we make a request to avoid first floor. What we actually request, however, is second floor or above to avoid any possible confusion. We usually get a 2BR (all are lock-offs). Most of those are over either the Crest of Waves or the Big River Grill. There also 2BRs on the second floor over the main store. Most rooms on the third to fifth floors over the main store are GVs or dedicated studios and dedicated 1BRs. You could possibly request a dedicated 1BR but the risk there is getting a room right next to Jellyrolls because those rooms right at the end of Crest of Waives next to Jellyrolls are dedicated 1BRs. Frankly, you should not be too worried about the room with boardwalk view except for those first floor, boardwalk level rooms where you cannot actually just walk out to the boardwalk because you are blocked off from doing so from your porch but anyone walking by on the boardwalk can look right into your room if you have curtain open. A safe request is just "upper floor."

In the photo I don't see any of the solid wall balconies above the 2nd floor??? :confused3 Also, I have in 30+ stays I have never had the closed in BW view balcony except on 2nd floor. A couple have had a very short wall with slats above the short wall.

Thanks..:thumbsup2..Thats really helpful info!...I think your right..I should just request upper floor as other than the dreaded first floor..I think I will have pros and cons with all the rooms!

I actually don't think I will mind too much the crest of the wave section..now that I know there are stairs nearby to exit rather than the long walk to the lobby. We are fit and healthy so it won't be a problem.
I would like a slatted fenced balcony so that would be one plus to crest of the wave...but I think I'd like all the balconys!:)

Can't wait!!

We were in a BWV 1 bedroom - (5011 I think) - it had a solid wall on the balcony, and we were on the 5th floor. We were in the red building close to Jellyrolls - the middle balcony on the top floor in the picture linked above. You could not see out of the balcony if you were sitting down, we had to stand up to see the boardwalk area. We loved the room, and didn't mind the solid concrete wall on the balcony.

A friend recently had a 5th floor studio and complained about the solid wall. I think it was the one in the middle of the red section above Big River.

When I had 5051, it did not have a balcony off the bedroom, just a small one off the living room. I also had a room above Big River that had a small balcony that would not open from the living room, only the bedroom (4013 or 4015?).
