Another good time to do the Safari ride is right at the end of the day. The animals know they are going in for the night soon, it's usually beginning to cool down, and the animals tend to be up and moving around more than in the middle of the day. We love this ride, so often try to do it first and last. Once we were on the very last Safari truck, and since there was nobody behind us the driver stopped several times to let us look at the animals - who were very active.

So if you wanted to do, say, Everest first thing in the morning, you could try doing the Safari ride at the end of the day.

One thing to remember is you have a 5 yr old. Planning is not going to work because they are going to see something and want to ride that next. My recommendation is to take the laid back approach. At MK, go to Fantasyland for the rope drop, and see what they want to do. Then head one way or the other, but don't fret, relax and enjoy the World. If this is your child's first trip the last thing you want them to remember is not getting to do a ride they wanted to do because the line was too long. Be flexible and explain lines and the potential to come back a little later to ride something, but by all means enjoy the park. Remember, they don't know what they are missing, so enjoy what you do ride and don't worry about what you miss. My DW has to keep reminding me of that also.

Our DD5 was just the opposite! She is like her mama and likes to know what to expect, so she was all into a "PLAN"! Also, if your child has watched the planning video (over and over and over...) they WILL know what they're missing. It was her daddy who did not get the "plan" mentality till about day 3. We talked about what DD didn't want to ride, deleted that from a touring plan and went with what she did want to do. I say go to www.***************** and pay the six bucks for the customized touring plans. This way you can get the ones for the specific age range/gender of the child. If your child wants to ride one of the thrill rides, then do that first, then start with the touring plan. You don't have to let it rule your day; it's just a great guide for knowing what direction to go in next!

Okay....that would be touring plans above before the dot com. Hmmm, that's never happened before- guess because they are now competitors with TGM!
