Today, someone at work told me that I have to pay extra for a kid that is 10 years old if she stays with us in the room, because, she counts as an adult. I know she pays for adult ticket at the parks..but paying extra when we are just 4 in the room(including her).My niece just turned 10 and we always take her with us.I'm not paying extra for a 10 yr old CHILD.That is just ridiculous!!! Is this true??

Not that I know of ... we brought our 16 year old niece with us a few years back to babysit and we didn't pay extra. This would be new if it were true. It was my understanding that kids 17 and younger were free but I could be wrong.

dcedwards, Is correct. The extra charge is 18 and over for the resorts.

No, Kids 17 and under stay in parents room for free,i have four kids and it would have cost me alot more if they did in June to take them .
Have fun in disney!
I'll be there tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!

No, you don't pay extra for a 10 year old in the room.Only if they are 18 and up.

I Posted at 11:14 and by 11:21 I already had 4 responses...I knew what she(my coworker) told me just didn't make sense.I knew I could count on my extended disboard family to give me the right answer...THANK YOU:p

bridgettesmom, Have a great trip!! :D :D

The 18 and up rule applies if you're staying at a Disney resort (or the Swan or Dolphin). Most hotel chains do charge for more than 2 people in a room, and many of them don't exclude children from that rule. If you're staying off-site, you may have to pay extra.

10 & up are adults for park admission
12 & up are adults for dinning (buffets, one price)
18 & up are adults for lodging.

In your case there should not be any extra charge. However, many rooms are intended for four occupants, period. If there is you, your spouse and more than two kids (unless one is an infant who can sleep in a crib) then there could be a problem. They probably should not allow the extra member in the room, or perhaps allow them but charge for a rollaway.

If you booked a package, they charge a per person charge for everyone... If you book ala carte, your kids under 18 will stay free.

Thank you ...There just gonna be the four of us ,so,we don't have to pay for the extra person.

WDW2002- I just made a couple of PS for Boma and for some reason I forgot to ask if she was paying as an adult or as a child. Great...we just saved a few dollars.

;)
