There was another show at that time, too but I can't remember the name. It featured a woman and my parents bought me a pair of "Romper Stompers" because Miss (Can't remember her name) used them on the show!

Romper Room!!!

I used to wait anxiously for her to say "I see..." and she'd never say my name.. :sad2:

:rotfl:Me too! And, she said my name all of the time looking in her magic mirror...

Classic programs! Real time...real people!

:wave2:
captain Kangaroo, Mr. Greenjeans, Bunny Rabbit, Mr. Moose, the talking clock, dancing bear!

 it as a kid. I always wanted his ring of keys that he used to open all the doors in the morning!

Sorry, dont remember the parade thing

:goodvibes

Hey I'm not an old lady! I watched Him everyday before school. Don't remember the Thanksgiving show because I liked to sleep in on days off from school. I loved Capt. Kangaroo of course I watched him in black and white so Mr. Green Jeans was just a name to me. I remember when Mr. Rogers came on, now him I thought was boring- his first shows were very slow and monotonous. ( I was in the Pitts. area so we had him before National)

Well maybe I am an old lady I just posted under my DD's name and didn't even realize it!

Didn't Captain Kangroo have Picture, Picture? I remember my sister watching it and she had a little notebook to use during Picture, Picture time. (Am I thinking of the right show here?)

ETA: I think Picture Picture was on Mr. Rogers! But....didn't Captain Kangaroo have a drawing time on his show?

I used to love Mr. Rogers. The factory tours and the Land of Make Believe were fun!

I vaguely remember Thanksgiving, but I remember vividly the daily show. I loved it and all of the characters. Remember Dancing Bear?

I loved Dancing Bear! And the Magic Drawing Board! and the ping pong balls! You know, we were pretty simple-minded kids back then :goodvibes

I remember him, but he's vague. :confused3 I fit in more with the Wonderama era.

I watched Captain Kangaroo but don't remember Thanksgiving. Must be my advanced age.

I applied to be on Romper Room but by the time they called me I was in second grade so my kindergarden aged brother got to be on it instead. I did get to go one day and see it broadcast.

Carol, that is too funny! I know you remember Professor Kool being from the Baltimore area....my brother and I were on his show. My brother started crying at the end because I won the jackpot of toys and he won nothing. :rotfl: That became family lore and we still tease him about it to this day. :rotfl:

Yes, I was a "Captain Kangaroo" watcher too.

Also "Romper Room" and "Land of Play."

I loved Captain Kangaroo! And Bunny Rabbit and Mr. Moose! And Mr. Green Jeans! Wasn't there a Mr. Painter as well?

Anne

Of course I loved the captain; I even mentioned him on another thread yesterday.

However, I do not recall anything with the Thanksgiving Day parades.

I enjoyed the music "videos" that were shown between bits such as

The Joy of Noise
Singing in the Rain (or was that on Sesame Street or Electric Compay :scratchin )
And "I'm a train"

I'm a train, I'm a chooka train, I'm a chooka-TRAAAAAIN yeah

I read Mike Mulligan and Mary Anne to my daughter earlier this week and was thinking of him then ;)

He was on in chicago in my youngin' days. But as mentioned before he was not a top five chioce to watch. Ray rayner, then cartoons....

Mikeeee

LOVED the Captain. Bunny Rabbit was one of my favorites.

I do seem to remember something about Thanksgiving, but it's not real clear right now.

Caps for Sale - my kids wore that out when they were little, we had to buy a second copy. :sunny:

I also grew up in Baltimore and my sister and I were on Professor Kool. She won toys. I cried. All I really remember was walking on a straight line across the floor, gosh, I cant even remember why I had to do that :rotfl: I will have to get my mother to refresh my memory, I cant even remember when it was.

We did Romper Room too.
