The wife and I are really looking to buy a small add on contract. Thing is, they go very quickly for any on site properties. Seems to be quite a bit of HHI and VB deals out there, but I'm shying away from them for a few reasons-point cost and the fear of Disney possibly changing the rules as far as booking at on site from resorts off site. I've been looking for a 25-50 pointer at SSR or OKW for about 8 months now with a June use year and one of a few things happens:

1. Gone by the time I call-which in many cases is the day after getting the email.

2. They are completely stripped to 2013.

3. They are the wrong use year.

So....that said....I am finally thinking of saying the heck with trying to find the same use year to go along with our 160pt BLT June contract. The 11 month booking window is really only important to us at BLT for our anniversary trip every year in November..otherwise..all our other weekend trips......we could really care less where else we stay. We always manage to find rooms at whatever locations have the lowest (or close to lowest) points that we can find. We don't plan on using them for cruises, RCI, Hawaii, Disneyland...just WDW on site.

Here is my question. Outside of the following items-what, if any, are the problems with two use years:

1. Managing two accounts with two different membership numbers. I know it can be a little more work, but I have no problem with organization.

2. The inability to combine points at the 11 month mark. Not a problem for us either as I said above, we can use our BLT contract to book there, and the extras to stay wherever.

3. Banking/borrowing becoming a little more complex.

Is that it? Thanks!

Depends on several things.

Your available points will always be in the wrong membership.

MS will have more problems because you have 2 UY's.

You will forget to bank at some point.

I work with 3 different contracts with 2 different UYs and don't have a problem with banking, borrowing, or making reservations. It is nice to have the 11 month window at each resort for those times when it is important.

I can't think of anything other than what you have figured out yourself. You can do one transfer per year if you need to between your accounts for making reservations at the 7 months mark or less also.

Ok..so I can only "mix" points for one reservation per year?

Ok..so I can only "mix" points for one reservation per year?

if you transfer all of your pts from contract B to contract A, you can mix or pool the pts together to book a single night until those transferred pts run out. (if you transfer the pts in, they will operate as if they are under one membership for pooling purposes.)

you can only transfer once per UY for each contract so it would generally be easier (IMO) to transfer all of them in each year. if you only transfer in some of the pts, you would not be able to transfer again from that UY.

but if contract B is a different home resort than contract A, you can only mix pts after the 7 month window opens.

We waited months for a small add-on...finally just went ahead and purchased 25 pts direct from Disney. Definitely worth it for my husband and me.
