Please Tell Me Honestly

For many of the reasons others have stated, we think DCL is great for couples. Especially couples who love Disney!

We've cruised 4 times without kids...our first time was our honeymoon.

GO FOR IT!

We have no kids, but are cruising on our 4th DCL cruise in August. Love the adult only areas! Funny story, I was in the laundry room on a previous cruise and some older ladies left. A mother in the group remaining said she couldn't understand why people without children would go on DCL. I piped up and said "You don't? We don't have children". She asked what I do all the time. I asked what she did when her kids were in the clubs. I said that's what I do all the time :rotfl2:

GOOD ONE!

We have cruised DCL 13 times....10 times with the kids and 3 times without the kids when we were celebrating our special anniversaries, etc. We have even gone with other couples with no kids and have a ball. Cruising with our kids who are older (17, 20, 21) is great, but so is cruising without them...just a different experience.

DH and I went on our first cruise alone and had a blast - have cruised since alone, with our family and again for a family reunion. We are also sailing this year on the Wonder for a family reunion at Thankgsiving and then again with just our children in December on the Magic and then next December on an adults only trip with friends.

The only other cruise line I can compare to is Princess and while I loved the Alaskan destinations, give me DCL any day. They don't have any adult areas other than the bars and casinos (too smokey and I don't gamble). It isn't any fun when a child jumps on you into the hot tub!

I have to disagree with anyone who says that DCL isn't a place for couples with no kids. The DH and I cruised back in January and loved it. Of course we don't have any kids either. And now we are looking to book a 7 night sometime! Honestly, I don't know that I could cruise any other cruise line and it live up to DCL. Oh, and by the way, just for the record, the DH and I aren't that big of "Disney Freaks" so to speak, and we still had a BLAST!

DH & I cruised last November (3-day) and will return next November (7-day). We are not big 'kid' people but we are big Disney :earboy2: Freaks.

We loved the cruise though the first night scared me to death because the ship was rocking pretty bad for about 5 hours :scared: I was very, very ready to get off the ship in Nassau, despite the nasty rumors that it isn't a nice place to visit. We really liked the straw market. If you equate poverty with misery you won't like it. We found it charming, I digress...

We played batgammon in Diversions two of the three nights on the ship before dinner. We didn't see any of the shows. We did the REAS package and loved every single part of it. We had our Christmas card picture taken in our dress clothes with Mickey. We napped ;) and relaxed and really enjoyed ourselves, so much in fact that we are going again next year.

Because you are self proclaimed Disney Freaks, you will love the cruise and find yourself relaxing into the lack of heavy drinkers, obnoxious people and inapropriate behavior. It just seems like we Disney folks want to have good clean fun and people seem to relax and enjoy the ship rather than over-doing their vacation.

I second the thought of spending some quality time at Serenity Bay on CC. The family beach was nice but SB is SILENT and almost deserted. There were maybe 30 people at SB the day we were there. The family beach was packed and the music was really loud and obnoxious. There is no music, other than the music of the waves and the bartenders at SB.

Go. You will love it. But please book your next cruise while you are on the ship. You WILL go back and WILL be disgusted, as we were, that you didn't take advantage of the $$$$ savings opportunity given on board.

Enjoy! :cool1:

On my last (read..very last) Carnival cruise I was more fed up with the adults acting like children than with any children ever on a DCL cruise. DH and I are DINKS.....and we will have 4 Disney cruises under our belt by February.

Jenni: I am the veteren of 6 DCL trips, 5 with all four kids, 1 with just the DW for our 10th Wedding Anniv. We had a blast and really enjoyed the adults only sections of the ship and Castaway Cay. We had the later seating and never once had a problem with " Kids running around" . As an example, on the last day of the cruise, during disembarkation, we ran into a a couple we knew and their two kids. We did not know they were on the ship and only ran into them at the very end. We chalk this up to them being in the family & kids areas while we were not.

If you love Disney, then do the cruise. You will not regret it.

I think DCL is great for couples. My DH and I don't have children and have sailed with Disney 6 times. #7 is this September and #8 is booked for next May!

My DH and I spent our 15th anniversary on DCL w/o the kids. We had done a 3 night and a 4 night before with the kids, but treated ourselves to a 7 night. It was WONDERFUL! We spent most of our time in the adults only areas and didn't really notice all of the children on board.

One of the best parts of our trip was at the terminal when everyone was waiting to board the ship. We sat on the sofas and watched all the stressed out parents and jazzed up kids and thought "Boy are we glad that's not us!".

I would highly recommend DCL for a couple. All that Disney magic just makes it all the more romantic!
