We are going up for Easter and staying at POFQ. We were supposed to stay at the Dolphin but realized we have to renew our APs and cant afford to do that and stay at the Dolphin. This will be our first time at POFQ. We have stayed at Riverside and didnt like it either time we stayed. I have problems with distance walking because of my Fibromyalgia and they kept putting us in rooms that were way out even though we requested closer to the food court.

The pool looks pretty kewl at POFQ. What other great things can you tell me about this resort??

The good news is that all the buildings are pretty close to each other, so you won't have a lot of walking. The bad news is the food court stinks. Not very big and not alot of choices!

Here is the lowdown on PO-FQ (our favorite moderate!)

The French Quarter resembles a very cleaned up New Orleans around Mardi Gras time.

The main building is known as The Mint and has wrought ironwork details and a tall glass atrium that houses the front desk, guest services, a shop, a game room, ATM, lounge, food court and a beautiful fountain right in the center.

Outside there are narrow cobblestone lanes, complete with"gas" lamps, wrought iron benches, and magnolia trees. Nothing at this resort is more than a 5 minute walk from your room!

The rooms in French Quarter are decorated in French Provincial furniture, gilt edged mirrors and Venetian blinds. All rooms accommodate up to four and come with either 2 extra long double beds or one king bed. Rooms include a TV, armoire, table and charirs, ceiling fan and a separate vanity area with double sinks. Every room has a window, and corner rooms have 2, but none have private balconies. Amenities include toiletries (shampoo, soap,) housekeeping, limited room service, in room safe, and voice mail.

Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory is the food court for the French Quarter and has been recently refurbished. It is a bright airy place, with a great selection of food, and wonderful pizza. For breakfast, don't forget to try the Beignets! The decor is decidedly Mardi Gras, with all of the bells and whistles. The lounge is known as the Scat Cat Club and is a full service bar that periodically has live music on the weekend. Mardi Grogs is the Pool Bar that serves drinks and snacks.

French Quarter's Pool the Doubloon Lagoon is of a moderate size and has a huge dragon housing the water slide (you slide down its tongue). A Mardi Gras band of crocodiles shoots water at unsuspecting swimmers. There is also a wading pool for the little ones, and a hot tub nearby. The pool overlooks the Sassagoula River.

There is nice playground outside of the main building heading for the pool, as well.

Transporation at this resort is very good. There is only one bus stop, outside of the Mint... and it is the 1st stop going to the parks and the 1st stop coming back. In the morning and late evenings the bus usually goes directly to and from the parks, but during the day, it will also make the rounds of the PO-R stops. We were never inconvenienced by this bus route.

There is a boat that transports guests to Downtown Disney in the evening starting at 4 pm and ending at 11 pm.

Also, there is a shuttle boat running between PO-FQ and PO-R every 15 minutes from 9 am and 9:30 pm... or if you are up to it, the wonderful walkways connect the 2 resorts, as well.

Another bonus, is that because PO-FQ and PO-R are sister resorts, they share amenities... so you get 2 themed pools, 5 quiet pools, 2 hot tubs, 2 playgrounds, 2 lounges (PO-R has entertainment more often), 2 game rooms, 2 shops, 2 food courts, use of PO-R's sitdown restaurant, bike and boat rental and much more, but you have the convenience of short walks and intimacy at PO-FQ that PO-R doesn't afford.

For our money, you just can't beat PO-FQ!

What an incredible description! It sounds exactly like POFQ! We stayed at POFQ for the first time in May and we are going back in April we enjoyed it so much! I really enjoyed their food court and thought there was quite a variety for counter service. I have to admit that food is not on the top of our priority list while at Disney (we've never had any character meals, etc) so we were very content and pleased with the options available at POFQ. We loved the closeness of the resort especially. It only took a couple minute to get to everything, even the bus stop. Even the walk to Riverside didn't seem to take long at all.

I loved the time we spent at French Quarter, and wanted to go there again in May (but counldn't get the space). I thought it was quite and quaint. we did not eat there, so I have no feedback on that, nor did we swin (I was there for the WDAC convention in 2000, so we were busy with that).

I would stay here again in a heart beat. Give it a try!

We stayed there in 2001 when we went to celebrate my 40th birthday and we loved it. We would definitely stay there again.

Thank you so much everyone!!!! I feel so much better about staying there. Sounds like we are going to love it!!

I think my boys will LOVE the pool and the slide. I looked at the menu on Debs site and it looks like there is a lot at the foodcourt that we would eat.

I requested close to the foodcourt but Im glad to hear that no matter where they put us we will be close anyway.

I adored my stay at PO-FQ last Fall. My daughter and I had a ball. The PO will definitely be experienced by my family again (this time, hopefully my husband and son will be able to join us). My pictures aren't the greatest, but here's a link to 'em. And don't forget to take the boat over to Riverside so that you can check out Bob Jackson's wonderful show. That was the highlight of our PO-FQ stay. We laughed until we cried (and that was after we conga'd through the lounge with the rest of the WDW vacationers ;) ).

I hope you enjoy your stay.

I stayed there last month for the first time, I really liked it. We were in building 7, which is about the farthest away and it wasn't that far to walk to the main building (we didn't make any building requests). It was only 3 nights, we had 1 breakfast and 1 late snack (pizza) at the food court. I liked it that it wasn't so big like POR. I've stayed at all 4 mods now and I'd pick POFQ if I had to choose. The only one I really didn't like was Coronado .

I stayed at the Port Orleans back in '92 when it was pretty new and still the "port Orleans" as opposed to the Dixie Landings/Port Orleans combined! I swore when I left there that I would stay there again someday.

Since then, have stayed at the All Star's 3x (2x Sports and 1x Movies) because of unbelievably great deals. Although I have enjoyed the All Star's tremendously I still had the nagging voice in my heads saying "you've always wanted to do Port Orleans again!! Next trip, go for it!!"

I am happy to say, I have booked the Port Orleans French Quarter for August for 11 nights........still waiting on a great AP code but non the less will stay there once again as I promised myself 11 years ago!!!!

CAN NOT WAIT !!!!!! You will definitely enjoy this resort!!!
