Hi,

We have planned out my grad trip! :cheer2: :cheer2: Tell me what you think. OKW 3 days 1 bedroom/Magic/VB 3 days 1 bedroom. Never been to OKW or VB. Please tell me everything about OKW! I know many of you own there & love it. Is this a good plan? We will have 29 points to bank as well. :cheer2: :cheer2:

Thanks,

Yep, love OKW! It will feel to you like a vacation villa, not a hotel. The "down and out" of the rooms opening directly to the outside rather than an interior hallway is one of my favorite things about the set up. The living room/dining/kitchen area is so nice and open and the huge covered porch with the ceiling fan and table and chairs is our special favorite place to have breakfast and mid day beverage breaks. If you get a unit that has a golfcourse view, it is fun to watch and harrass the golfers. They will often engage you in conversation if they see you watching them.

The quiet neighborhood pools are our favs, for a late evening relaxing hot tub encounter before turning in for the night. For those who like a libation, there is a nice quiet little outdoor bar near the main pool. If you like to slide, there is a great new sandcastle slide at the main pool.

Olivias is the on site restaurant, and they are great for a nice breakfast or any meal, but lunch time they are often quite busy.

Liesurly walks along the sidewalks and paths are nice at OKW, and teh boat to DTD is a special favorite way to get there as well. You can also take about a 15 minute walk to DTD along the canal. Don't do that at night though, because it is not lighted at all. You can rent bikes and water craft as well.

OKW is my favorite DVC resort. When using a studio we go to BWV or SSR but when using a 1 bedrookm OKW is the only place I'll go, the units there are just so much larger I feel like I'm getting more for my points. My DH and I go to WDW several times each year but each summer we take a trip with the whole family and when we're all together we always use OKW. The 1 bdr balconies there are large, they have a dining table, 4 chairs and a ceiling fan. My DD and I love to sit out on the balcony and giggle at the golfers! WE like the Turtle Pond area the best since it has a nice pool area and doesn't get as crowded as the main pool. Walking around there feels like you're in a small resort town rather than in the middle of WDW.

As someone who agrees and loves both OKW and VB...and just got home from an awesome stay at VB in a 1bdrm...the only thing to add is that you'll love the 1bdrms at VB just as much as OKW. Unlike the other DVC resorts 1bdrms which feel much smaller than at OKW the 1bdrm's at VB are almost identical to OKW:) Just a tiny bit smaller since they don't have an actual laundry room but stackables in the closet...the rest is still very similar and very spacious. A tip for OKW in the 1bdrm's ....if you want the 2nd enterance into the bathroom through the laundry room request a bldng.# higher than #30. Bldng's #29 and lower only have 1 enterance to the bathroom through the master bedroom.

Other than that, you will love it no matter what section of the resort you end up in;) We like Southpoint ourselves but have yet to get a bad location.

Enjoy!

OKW has the largest rooms of any DVC property. It is quiet and spread out. You can park right in front of your unit. It is short on services with no room service and a lack of dining options on property. It offers boat transfers to DTD. Main pool is on the small side for a DVC property. They have added a water slide here recently. OKW really is like staying in your own condo. Very quiet atmosphere and feels removed from the rest of WDW. Some people love this aspect. Our family at this point doesn't care for that type of trip. If I want a quiet condo trip with no room service and the like I'll do it at the beach. Disney for us is our "active " trip. It all boils down to your vacationing style. If quiet and great rooms is what you want OKW will certainly deliver.

Great place and great location. You are not far from Downtown Disney. You can get there by boat, bus or even walk. The rooms and the resort are roomy. Enjoy!
