I have never had breakfast or dinner there (I can't believe it in all the years). Is this the restaurant where there is an open pit where they cook the food? If it is, is this just for dinner or do they somehow do this for breakfast also? Thanks for the help!!

They do both. We have only been there for dinner, several times, and love it. It is our favorite. we are going for breakfast in April-Can't wait! Good luck!

I assume you mean 'Ohanas. Doubt very much the Irish did much exploration in the polynesian area....
Their buffet dinner meal is served family style. Food is cooked on skewers over large fires in a show kitchen. Plainly visible, kinda interesting to see. The main courses are also supplemented by side dishes such as wontons and fried rice, etc. WDWIG should have the full menu details for their meals.

Hi TinkHappy!

Our family ate there for dinner in May of 2002 and boy! did we have a good time. They DO cook over an open pit and then bring the meats around on long skewers. You can have as much as you like. There's turkey (pretty good), steak (yum), pork, and Shrimp! The shrimp was very good! Before they bring around the meats, they give you an appetiser platter of salad (a kind of sweet vinegrette dressing I think), rice, chicken wings and I believe fried wonton (was my favorite). You can get more of that too.

Out the big windows you can see MK and the Volcano Pool so ask for a window view if possible. It's really lovely. For dessert, there's a pineapple with caramel sauce that they'll bring out (goes with meal) or you can order from the menu. The pineapple was so good with that sauce! Anyway -- we were stuffed!

During dinner there is usually a game of coconut races or hula hoop contest for the kids. My kids like that too. Personally, I really liked this restaurant. Wish I was going back!

We had breakfast there in Oct and it was very good, they coffee was outstanding

'OHana's is our families favorite!! It is our tradition to always have dinner there our first night in WDW - and we have never even stayed at the Polynesian before. It's all you can eat, the most friendly staff in any WDW world restaurant that I've been in, and the view of the fireworks and castle is amazing!! The atmosphere is just the very best and the food is delicious! Always a highlight on my trips.

We've gone for breakfast. The characters were great. We saw them at least 3 times during our meal. We got tons of food and it's some of the best CB food on property. Plus it's family style, not buffet, which is nice. The view is great, and there's games or parades around the room at breakfast, too.

Thanks for all the great posts on lunch/dinner. I've been wanting to try one of the 2 on our next trip because the food was so good when we ate there for breakfast. Now I know we definitely will!

Does anyone know how they accomodate picky-eating kids at lunch or dinner? DS has a VERY limited number of foods he'll eat.

Thank you EVERYONE!!!! I have am going to book PS for dinner. Thanks again for all the responses!!

abeyst--I have a 5YO VERY VERY PICKY EATER. He was able to get a grilled cheese (3 decker) and french fries. He had a blast with the coconut races and the hula hoops. And he really enjoyed flirting with our waitresses. :)

DITTO, DITTO, DITTO.... ;)

To what everyone else has said regarding 'Ohana.

We ate there for the first time in Oct 2002, and plan to go again this Oct.2003 !!
I absolutely loved every part of the meal and atmosphere ;)

Matter of fact, just this afternoon I was reading TIKIMan's website that is devoted to the Polynesian, and I could almost smell the food from 'Ohanas. And Ohhhhhhhhhhhh that pineapple w/caremel dipping sauce is out of this world, yummmmm !

If everything goes the way I want it to, I am dreaming of staying at the Polynesian this time as well.
:bounce:

My son is very picky and they were able to get him chicken strips from the restaurant next door.
I just love it at 'Ohanas and have a ps for our next trip there!
