A very good friend of my DD's is in life threatening condition. He was hanging out with friends in the parking lot after having a fun day at work. When one of the girls started to leave, he jumped on her car. The girl wasn't driving very fast at all but when he fell off, he hit his head. He was taken to our local trauma center but had to be life-flighted to a hospital in the city. He's had brain surgery and is in a drug induced coma. They're really not sure if he is going to make it or not.
The girl that was driving is in pretty bad shape (emotionally) herself.
No drugs or drinking were involved.
Kids/young adults sometime think that they're invincible.
What should be a happy and exciting week for DD, has turned out to be a horrible week. She leaves for school this week. She's been looking forward to this week for so long. All that she's talked about for the last 2+ years is going away to school after community college. Now, she's not even sure she wants to go. She feels guilty for leaving. The girl involved in the accident is supposed to be in DD's dorm and the friend was going to help them move in.

I have told everyone that I know about this in hopes that they will talk to their kids/young adults about how dangerous it is to goof around with car.
