We have the AKL standard booked for an impromptu (meaning unbudgeted) trip in the beginning of June. It is me, my DH, DD (age 6) and DS (age 3) for five nights. We have only stayed at the Polynesian (mainly for monorail purposes), so the AKL is totally new and exciting for us. Usually, I have a character meal (or two) booked for every day and a serious structure to our days - we will miss EE desperately. However ... on this trip, we want to take it a little slower, go to a waterpark for the first time and actually do some things outside of the Main parks.

So - what I need are some educated opinions from those who know AKL. I think the Savanah view will add $367 to our bill. I'm not sure how much more Concierge will be.

Any thoughts are appreciated. THANKS!:sunny:

If you are staying at AKL, book at least the savannah view. There is something to watch day and night. It is one of the best things about AKL. The pool is a close second!
The concierge service there is also excellent. The staff will spoil you! They have a great selection of juices and a cap./expresso machine that I still miss 1 year later. You could eat just lunch at a restaurant and save big $ on breakfast and a light dinner in the lounge.

Though I didn't stay concierge at AKL, I visited the lounge with a guide. It looked wonderful. The foods looked good, and the view into the lobby and through the glass wall were spectacular.

Our room was a Savannah view on the fifth floor. It was amazing to wake up and see the animals grazing outside your window. The best part of the stay for dd and me was spending time on our balcony watching the animals. This was the most time I have spent on a balcony at a WDW resort.

If you don't get the Savannah view, there are still plenty of places to see/watch the animals, but few at which you could wear your pajamas or bathrobe. We sat out there and enjoyed our breakfast while the animals enjoyed theirs. It was great!

We have stayed both standard savannah and concierge. For our family, I wouldn't spend the extra money again. Their staff was wonderful and we enjoyed the lounge, but personally I preferred to hang out in the lobby instead of above.

I would definitely get a savannah view room though.

I would highly recommend the Savannah view room.

We had a queen bed with bunk beds. It was beautiful and we intend on returning this December.

Our son (2 years old) just loved watching the animals from our balcony.

We were on Zebra trail. Looking out at Arusha rock. 3rd floor.

Unfortunately we were very busy and didn't see many animals. So we plan on spending some down time at this resort so we can enjoy our room with a view!

AKL is beautiful.

We recently stayed at AKL. I believe most resorts charge $100 extra for concierge. We used concierge at all three resorts (AKL,BWI,GF) because the deals we were able to get resulted in concierge costing the same or less than a regular deluxe room. Check for these deals when you call. Ask about an upgrade deal when you check in. If you can get a bargain on concierge, it can save you a lot on food for a family of four....but only if you get a deal.
