My sister will be searching RCI extra weeks for an extended family trip, and I wanted to give her a list of preferred resorts.
  • Easy access to the parks is a priority - we'll be doing mostly park days and usually with a midday break.
  • I'd like to be able to walk to a swimming pool from our units. My great niece is 4 and she will care more about being able to get into the pool frequently than having a big destination water resort we would drive to once or twice.
Wyndham Bonnet Creek is at the top of our list. We've stayed there several times and really enjoy it. We stayed at Silver Lake once years ago and that's on our list but when she's looked before Silver Lake was really inflexible on check-in and check-out days. We stayed at Orange Lake once. I didn't like the drive back and forth and I really didn't like that we had to drive to get to the resort pool.

Looking through old disboard threads and on Google maps, it looks like Sheraton Vistana and Vacation Villages at Parkway get good reviews. VV@P looks like it's centralized around the pools, but Sheraton Vistana looks spread out like Orange Lake.

Other suggestions?

I agree with your assessments of WBC, SL and OL - we’ve stayed in all 3. WBC wins for location, pools, dining, and recreation options. FYI SL changed management companies a few years ago, and reports on TUG indicate they’ve become more aggressive about trying to get guests to sign up for time-wasting “owner updates” i.e. sales meetings. Next time we stay there, I’ll wear one of my TUG t-shirts and keep saying No.

We haven’t stayed at Sheraton Vistana or VVP. Be aware that there’s the Sheraton Vistana Resort and the Sheraton Vistana Villages, with the Villages being farther away from WDW. My sister stayed at VVP some years ago and was satisfied with it, but it was just her by herself, she didn’t use the pools or other amenities, and she didn’t have a car. We were in a different resort, and I remember the drive to/from VVP to pick her up and bring her back from WDW was inconvenient.

IOW, if WBC is available, book it!
