The traffic on I-95 & I-10 here in North Florida is very heavy and they may open both sides of the I-10 so the traffic can clear quicker. (all lanes will go west) Most all the traffic is from South Florida...not sure how long it would take someone from our area to evacuate if they make it mandatory. One man from West Palm said it took him six hours to drive just to I-95...he said normaly takes about an hour. The rest areas are so crowded people are parking way over in the grass then walking to the restrooms...Gas Stations all up I-95 are running low on gas... some are already out.

I can add my two cents to all the advice to stay home. We left for Florida on 8/9, and have to admit because of packing and everything you have to do before a vacation we did not listen to the weather all weekend. We were to vacation on Captiva Island for 5 days before our cruise on the Magic Saturday. We heard about Charley on Wednesday morning, had to leave on Thursday morning, loosing 2 days of beach time at the most beautiful Florida location we were ever at. We didn't know what to do or were to go, a frightening feeling. We drove north and I called WDW on the way, luckily we go into CSR. The weather was beautiful and we thought we would avoid Charley. Got up Friday morning to realize Orlando was in Charley's path. Went to Epcot until it closed, then the adventure began. Hotels were to capacitity and were not prepared. Food lines were imposibile, out on town was closed at 2:00. We really felt safe in our room during Charley, but I could not beleive the people outside sitting in chairs taking videos, probably would have been the first to want to sue WDW if anything fell on them. Had a 3 hour drive to the port on Saturday morning which usually only takes 45 minutes, and saw all the damage. The ship boarded late, got soaked waiting for Avis shuttle, then Ports were changed on the ship. Sorry this is so long, but even though we had a good time Charley was scary and I feel for all the people of Florida because this one is going to be worse. Why anyone would want to go and have a vacation ruined, plus get in harms way and cause more problems for the people of Florida is beyond me.
