I have watched a couple of Youtube videos and it might be on here too, but I have not seen it. They said that as soon as you scan your 3rd fast pass at the first magic band scanner going into an attraction....you can then go on your phone app and look for another fp.
1. Do you do this??

2. Also, do you rope drop and ride as many things before it gets crowded then save your fast passes for later in the day or night/different park?

3. Or do you go ahead and use them in the morning so that you can try for #4, #5 and so on??

4. Do you have different strategies for different parks as far as utilizing your fast passes??

5. If you use your 3 fast passes say in MK but are going to Epcot that afternoon can you book the 4th from your phone for another park? I remember you had to go to a kiosk once you arrived at the park?

6. Please feel free to add any tips or advice for maximizing fast passes. We are taking my son's friend in June who has never been so we will be going pretty hard for that 8 night trip so that we can get in a lot since it is his first time. Then when my husband and I go back in Oct. we will be taking it slow and easy. LOL

THANKS SO MUCH!!!!

Following LOL. I've read the same tips about starting to look for your 4th as soon as you scan in your 3rd, but I really don't think we've ever done it before. We usually use out first ones from 10 AM - 12 PM with stand by in between as we can, and then go home and never have FPs at night. But this time we will need to be looking for 4th FPs also.

1: Sometimes. I tend to forget and then book a 4th FP+ after the ride.
2: We do, do RD and get in as many attractions that we can. I book our FP+ for 11, 12, and 1 or as close to those times as I can get.
3: --
4: Sure. For Epcot and DHS, we'll RD one of the Tier 1 FP+ attractions and use a FP+ for another. We don't do much beyond that though.
5: You can now.

1) yes you can use your phone now to book a 4th FP. We use it

2) we save our fast passes for park hopping later in the day. There's no point in using fast passes early in the morning when lines are slow

3) I find this to be a waste. I'd much rather have headliners or FP later in the day that I know will have long lines rather than burn the first 3 then my extra FP's are like It's a small world, Figment, It's a bugs life, etc

4) our strategy is we park hop everyday since we're AP's. We rope drop first park, take a break from like noon-3, then have fast passes set up at the second park beginning around 5ish

5) yes you can book on your phone for a different park from your first 3 once your 3 are used

We haven't had much like finding a useful 4th FP, but I have used MDE to book a fourth right after getting in line for my 3rd. The issues I have with that is trying to look at the phone while navigating a line. I have crashed into people/walls etc, and had people walk smack into me while doing this. It's annoying for those on both sides of the bump.

1. Yes, we grab a 4th FP+ as soon as we scan our 3rd. Then we'll grab a 5th as soon as we scan our 4th, and so on.

2. Depends on definition of rope drop. Many consider it showing up 45-60 minutes before park opening. By that definition, no way. We'll show up right at opening time, or maybe 15 minutes later. The person who shows up an hour earlier only gets one extra ride than I do, and it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make. As to saving our FP+, it depends on our plan for the day. We don't do commando touring (park open to close), so if we show up at park opening time, that means we won't be in the parks at night anyway. So yes, we'll grab our FP+ very early...say 9, 10, 11am and then start grabbing other ones (you can even move FP+ up if you want...i.e. after scanning your 9am, try to move the 10am up a little). If we have an evening in the parks planned, then we wouldn't show up at park open.

3. Answered in #2 above

4. Not really. Grab the most popular rides for FP+, or at least as much as the tier system will allow. If there are other popular rides we can't FP+ right away, we'll either try to grab them as a 4th or ride them first thing in the morning or at park closing.

5. Yes you can book in another park from the MDE app once you've used your 3rd FP+. We do that fairly often.

1 Yes I do this if I remember too, some lines you do not get phone service ( I do not) like space.

2 yes I do RD a lot and have FP for 10;30. 11:30, 12:30 this way I feel it is early enough to get more.

4 most times no

5 yes

Never have any luck getting worthwhile 4th FP. Figment, IASW sometimes. Save your FP for headliners when the lines are long.

We've never had any luck either. There are 4th FPs available, but its things that have a minimal standby wait, so its not worth getting an FP for.

1. Do you do this?? Yes, all the time. As soon as we use our 3rd FP+, we pick our next one while we stand in line. That's what we do for each subsequent FP+.

2. Also, do you rope drop and ride as many things before it gets crowded then save your fast passes for later in the day or night/different park? Yes. We typically start our FastPass+ around 11 or so.

3. Or do you go ahead and use them in the morning so that you can try for #4, #5 and so on?? See above.

4. Do you have different strategies for different parks as far as utilizing your fast passes?? The only strategy we use is our starting time and then trying to get as many more as possible.

5. If you use your 3 fast passes say in MK but are going to Epcot that afternoon can you book the 4th from your phone for another park? I remember you had to go to a kiosk once you arrived at the park? You can now do everything on your phone, which is very convenient.

Not sure when you go, but our experience is quite the opposite. With limited exceptions (FEA and 7DMT being the biggest ones), we very rarely have issues getting worthwhile FP+ for 4th, 5th, etc... We've gotten RnR, TSMM, BTMRR, Splash, Space, TT, Soarin', etc...

I agree, but recognize that it very much depends on when you travel to WDW. On high crowd days all of those FP+ could be booked before you even enter the parks. It also depends on your group size. Easy to get them for 1 or 2 people - harder to do for larger groups.

I agree with this. We haven't been since booking the 4th FP on your phone started so haven't tried yet. If memory serves right after you scan in for your FP ride you are moving fairly quickly and constantly in the line, how is there time to be looking at a phone? I can see it on Soarin' and TT, because we always seem to have a short wait on those, just wondering about others. I'll for sure be trying it out for myself in May. Maybe I'll have DS be my eyes and steer me while I'm looking at the phone, lol.

Good responses, I haven't really gotten to the what's new stage yet of planning ;) so knowing that we can book the 4th FP with the phone is extremely helpful. Just starting booking our FP options for our June trip :) and so far was able to get everything on our list so that was amazing :). The only thing I hate is that they won't let you book days if your on a package early, so since we are coming in later Friday it was a lot less for us to book that one night at POP and then move to the POLY on our package but I know the kids will want to head to MK once we get checked in.

For MK last trip we had what I called a "rolling FP." I believe I had an early FP for Haunted Mansion at around 9:30. When we got there, there was no standby wait, so I changed it to something after our 3rd FP. I was then able to move FP2 (probably for Splash or BTMRR) to an earlier time. FP3 was SDMT, so there was no moving that. We used 2 and 3, then went to the rolling FP, which again had a short enough standby that I switched it to something else. I kept doing that until there was nothing I could or wanted to move it to, or we needed to use it. Of course, this was for a trip the first week of May, so it may not work at a more crowded time.

even though we were there at a busy time we got some really good 4th/5th FP's, TSMM, EE, Splash, Illuminations to name a few. Check as soon as you've scanned in for your third, book the most decent one you can find, then you can always keep trying to modify it to something even better, just keep refreshing the page and sometimes something great (A cancellation I assume) pops up.

Yes, I book our forth and subsequent fast passes as soon as we have scanned in on the current fast pass. I will find something suitable that we can go directly to as soon as we get off the ride. It works well as long as you aren't too picky about ride selection.

Do you generally find decent 4th FP for your entire group? I've randomly been checking the lines app to see what would be avaliable and see decent options but they are for one. I don't know that I can use that app to see more than 1 person availablity so it could be way off.

I got all those on a high crowd day and yes, we were a party of 2.

Thanks everyone!!! I guess we will try for the 4th and so on and so forth. We pretty much always get to park before opening or no later than 15 min. after opening and I mean....like we are going through bag check within a few min. of it opening.
