Hi All!

We have just booked our first Disney Cruise and I can't get enough of this board!!!

Please share with me your favorite memory of your Disney Cruise!!! I just think that these would be fun to read!!

Thank you!!!

don't think you'll find any of us DCL cruisers that will be able to pin it down to just ONE favorite memory.
Here's some:
1) Being wrapped in my husb's arms on our verandah under the moonlight & listening to the waves crashing against the boat & smelling the salty air
2) The wonderful shows in the Buena Vista Theater - EVERY ONE exciting, funny, thoroughly enjoyable
3) Every single thing about Castaway Cay - snorkeling with the kids, riding bikes, riding the banana boat, being alone on the adults only island with my husb., relaxing the day away
4) My husb. entering the belly flop contest @ the adults only pool - that was a riot! There were huge, heavy men in it & my husb. is fairly trim & well built & the skinniest, boniest guy won for the biggest splash!!
5) The entire decor
6) The different restaurants & the terrific servers & food

I could go on & on, but these are the first things that pop into my mind. Cruising is the ultimate in relaxation & fun

On my first DCL, I was running around Palo making my ressies for dinner, brunch and tea and a CM up there stopped me. He told me that I was just glowing. I was that happy to finally be on that ship!

Winning the metal for the best belly flop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The event which makes me rebook each trip is when I drive away from the ship and look back at it. It looks so beautiful and it always makes me cry!!

So Many!!

1. Actually MAKING it onboard the ship- we were in a panic all day thinking that due to flight delays we were going to miss it! (Fly in the night before... best tip I can give you!!)

2. Palo the night we boarded- a good way to end a terrible day and our server, Marco, was absolutely fantastic!

3. The Dueling Pianos- we LOVED spending the evening with them each night. What a great way to end every magical night on board.

4. Sipping champagne before Dinner at night on Deck 4, and relaxing in the deck chairs there, watching the sunset and the islands slowly melting away in the distance.

5. Disney Dreams!! : )

I think the other poster is right - it would be hard to pick just one.

Seeing the ship for the first time as we drove into the port. She was so big and so beautiful! Hearing the horn blow as we left port made me teary eyed.

Watching my 2 year old sitting in the booster chair at one of the theaters - eating her popcorn, while watching Mickey & Minnie in the Castaway Cay show. She was so growny!

When dd12 & I went to watch the best legs contest & one of the contestants (Santiago) did a stripper dance with one of the poles on the deck. OMG - that was so hilarious!

Having people wait on me for a change!! The dinners were excellent!

Definitely, Disney Dreams! I saw this twice while on the ship!

There are so many it is hard to choose.

1. The sound of the whistle when we leave port sends chills down my spine.

2. The site of the ship as you come over the hill.

3. On our first cruise we got to see the space shuttle take off just 12 miles from shore.

4. Forgetting about all the problems in life and just enjoying the good times on board.

There are so many little things... but I do have one story that to me says it all for DCL and the kind of company they are. If you have heard this already, I apologize! :)

Our first cruise on the Magic for my little boy and I, we were lucky enough to have Ernie Sabella -- voice of Puumba -- sailing at the same time. He is *the* nicest man, by the way -- so down to earth. I love him on That's So Raven. :)

In the Oceaneer's Club, they were given little travel-size pillows to color at Goofy's Giggle Gala, and they just happened to have pictures of Timon & Puumba on them. My son spent a lot of time coloring it just right, and was very proud of it, and I thought it would be neat to bring it to the autograph session with Mr. Sabella the next day. He didn't even know they were giving out those pillows, and he thought it was the neatest thing... he was really excited. He happily signed it, and spoke to my little boy in his Puumba voice, and the pillow instantly became a treasured item for my son.

Come debarkation morning, that had to be the one item that was forgotten. I realized it at breakfast, and ran back to the stateroom, but they had already cleared everything out. :( I was told to check back with lost & found in a week or so. I checked every week for a good while, then finally gave up, much to my little boy's dismay.

I decided to call DCL, just to see if they had a way for me to buy another pillow so my little boy could at least color a new one, the way you can order things you wished you had bought in the parks from Merchandising. She was very nice and told me she would see what she could do. She called back about a week later, saying that the children's program was sending a new pillow ashore when they next docked, and that she would mail it to me at no cost at all. I was flabbergasted and so grateful.

It turns out that right at that time, Mr. Sabella was sailing again, with his mother for Mother's Day. They actually brought him one of the pillows, explained the situation, and he graciously autographed it all over again in just the same way -- "To Tyler Dean, with love from Puumba." I opened that package and just cried, I couldn't believe it.

And that, along with about a million other reasons, is why I cruise Disney. :)

It is hard to pick just one but here are some of my favorites:

1) Hearing the horn for the very first time. It was overcast and a little rainy, but we staked out a place across from it and got it on tape. Love it!

2) Sunset from deck 10 in Key West - awesome! I've never seen anything like it!

3) The lunar eclipse from deck 10 and our veranda. Amazing! It brought out so many stars and looked like something you would see in a planetarium.

4) Any time I can spend sitting on the bench on the Navigator Veranda or a deck chair down on deck 4 relaxing with a good book!

So many memories and all of them wonderful!

Well, since we are taking our first Disney cruise this August, my favorite memory is the anticipation and excitement I receive, everytime I come to the cruise line forum.

Cruise #1- Ds, then 8 months playing with our waiter. He loved him! Also both DS & my nieces playing in the Mickey pool. they had a blast there. And who could forget Disney Dreams!

Cruise #2 was a trip for just DH and myself...our first since our honeymoon. Some highlights were...
-Dinner at Palo. It was so good and so nice to be alone!
-Sailaway party. It was indoors on July 4th and after the countdown they played Celebration and had a huge red white and blue balloon drop. Very nice touch!
-Dueling Pianos. DH and I had such a great time just hanging out there listening to the music and having a few drinks. Something we dont get to do anymore. ;)
-Did I mention Disney Dreams?

#1 and definitly the best - Driving up the hill and after getting past the crest seeing the Wonder sitting at the dock. What a sight!!! Still gives me a smile

#2 - Enoying time with my family of 23 for a family reunion/ Grandfather's 70th birthday. One of the best vacations ever!!!

1. Seeing the Disney Wonder for the 1st time! 2. Realizing that we were actually on a ship that was heading out to sea! 3. Hearing the ship's horn (When you wish upon a star!) 4. Going out on our verandah @ 6:30am to see the beautiful turquoise water & lighthouse coming into Nassau! 5. Castaway Cay & snorkeling for the first time! (Why can't I live there?) 6. Our awesome servers, who treated us like royalty & made my 8 yr. old niece truly feel like a princess! Great food too! 9. The Nassau Deck Party...seeing all ages having a great time from kids, teenagers to us 40 something gang! (Also watching all the other ships looking @ the Disney Wonder partying!) 10. Realizing that we will defintely be coming back soon! There's so much more I could share but I"d be typing all night! Enjoy your 1st cruise & take lots of pictures!! Cathie :bounce:

Our first time at Dueling Pianos with Fidelio - he had the kids come up on stage and sing/act with him! Michael was sooooo excited when Fidelio called him the "alien"! Guess you had to have been there to "get it" but Michael asked for piano lessons after that week and he's been practicing every since!

BRAVO FIDELIO!

When DS age 6 locked himself in the bathroom. Why, you say - well it was time to get off the ship to go home and he just wasn't ready to leave our magical trip onboard. Actually, I felt the same way but had to get maintenance to unlock the door so we could leave and get off the ship. To have your child love the experience that much is a parents dream and a memory come through!!!

Wow! This is such a great thread!

Shortly after we boarded the Magic this past January, DS 5 saw Minnie Mouse. She was just finishing up and it was clear the CM was escorting her back to wherever they go when they are done. DS ran up, threw his arms around her and hugged her like crazy. She hugged him right back, as if he was the only kid she had seen that day.

It was so amazing. I have a great picture on my desk that reminds me of that magical moment. DCL really does it right!!!

Cruise for 4 during peak holiday time - $4000+
Extra 2 days at WDW after cruise - $1000+
Flights from Boston to FL - $800+

Spending 5 uninterupted days with my busy family - priceless!

Our last night on the cruise, DH looked at me and said in a kid's voice "But I don't want it to be over." DCL was able to give him back his childhood for a week-- it was worth every penny!
