Let me preface my remarks by indicating that this falls under the category of "minor nuisance" not "huge problem."

It is a bit irritating, however, that seemingly fewer and fewer people are concerned about being quiet when leaving or returning to their hotel rooms. I just wish more people were concerned about their neighbors and would avoid the loud talking, running, door slamming.

Yes, I know, people are EXCITED when they are at WDW. But there are 47 square miles to be boisterous and exuberant, so --for future reference-- let's collectively decide to designate our 360 square feet of hotel rooms as QUIET ZONES. (And I'm not talking about crying babies, etc. That's totally understandable. I'm talking about controling the noise that can be controlled.)

Ah, that feels better.

Boy, I'm with you there. I could not believe the amount of noise CSR was willing to allow. They booked a summer camp-OPERA singers in the Casitas and allowed them to rehearse all day, every day at the top of their lungs in the guest rooms. Nightmare.

My experience has been that it's more adults than children also. One time at CR, a group that was checking out was just standing in the hallway talking loud and yelling back into their rooms about 6am. I had to actually open the door after more than 15 minutes and ask them to be quiet because people were still sleeping. I'm a little more forgiving during the day time, but still, many people take their children back to the room for a nap, so even during the day, it would be very considerate of everyone to keep their voices low. That's one reason I have a tendency to request rooms far away from everything, to minimize the number of people going by the room in the first place.

I couldn't agree more! I think manners are generally in decline. I'm not a prude, but a little common courtesy is all I ask.

This reminds me of a few years ago when I stayed at a hotel ( not in WDW) and I guess there were a lot of peeps from a nearby wedding staying there. Well anywho our room was near the elevator and from 1am(when they came in from wedding) until well after 3 am they were coming off of the elevator and having a party in the hall. I guess they were all hungry and were making food runs to Taco Bell. I called the Front Desk several times and if they didn't do anything because as I said this went on for several hours.:sad2: I also opened my door a few times and asked them nicely to be quiet and nothing. Well, I took matters into my own hands. The next morning when I got up at 6am I called every single one of their rooms and gave them a nice morning wake up call!:lmao: Yep, I called and said Good Morning, rise and shine! :rotfl2: It was the best!!!!

I knew my near constant "Shsh-ing" of my sons would pay off when we were at the Polynesian earlier this month:rotfl2: I have to say we only heard voices in the hall one afternoon during our week's stay (I was surprised it was so quiet). I encouraged my kids to be quiet in the room (brothers like to roughhouse!) and use "library" voices in the hallways.

Oh, this bugs the heck out of me. We didn't have any serious problems at WDW (CBR) but this winter we stayed a weekend at one of the waterpark hotels in Ohio. A group of teens from a soccer team were in the rooms across from us. At one point around 2 am, I was SO close to going out there and saying something. But I didn't. I was very tempted the next morning when my dd woke up at 6:15 am to go across the hall and start kicking on their door. Dh stopped me....

The only time I've ever stayed there somebody had a party at the quiet pool with their bomb box. That ended at 11pm. The party then followed to their room which lasted till 2 am. Had I not been up very early that morning that morning I would have called the front desk. It's great to know that compassion for others must be a acquired skill.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: !!!! Boy oh boy do I wish you were with me 2 years ago when I was staying at the YC with my ds(7). Thank god he slept through the whole ordeal but I had to listen to my "not so quiet, stumbling DRUNK neighbors, argue about he not being able to (I will be nice in the way I word this...but this is NOT the vocabulary used!!) PERFORM the way she expected!! Oh and then there was another friend that joined it banging on their door...over and over and over!!! This was about 2 a.m.. Actually the fight got so bad I thought that someone was going to get hurt...him or her!! Needless to say I called security. I did not call because of the noise..I honestly was nervous and the fact that my door "connected" to theirs was even worse!!!

I could just imgine the wake up call you would have given them!!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I called security at a hotel near DL because a mother was playing tag in the hotel corridors with her three children after 11pm. Mother was shrieking at the top of her lungs. the game went on for about30 minutes before I called.

I was not the only one who called, and after security shut her down she crept back out with the kids for another round. Needless to say we all called again and security came back up.

Oh boy, one of my worst experiences with this was with a group of adult golfers in a hotel in Pinehurst, where my dd was competing with her horse and we had to be up extra early to prepare. This drunken boisterous crowd had a party going between rooms and across the hallway (our room was smack in the middle), doors open, doors slamming, etc. I FINALLY (patient person that I am) called the front desk and they actually did get them to quiet down. Thought I'd be able to get my revenge by being noisy the next morning when we had to get up early, but OH NO, those d*** golfers were up as well, for an early tee time. Grrrr!!!

I usually travel with my white noise machine and can almost always sleep through hotel noise that way.

I traveled a lot with my parents growing up and we stayed in a lot of hotels. We had rules, which I don't think a lot of people have today! There was no running, loud talking, no jumping on beds, close doors quietly, do not let them slam at 6 AM.......It seemed like a lot of crappy rules to me at the time....BUT....my dd's have the same rules!

Always be considerate. There is a time and a place for every thing......

Bad enough is the loud talking and running past the doors, but the thing that really bugs me is that dumb door stop. For some reason I always seem to end up next to the people who are in and out of their room every 10 seconds and slamming the door onto the metal stop. Do peopleo not understand how loud and annoying that is? I wish they would come up with a better idea for the lock. I even notice that the housekeeping staff also slams the door on this.

It might sound a little dictatorial but it would be nice if upon check in, cm's would remind arriving guests about noise levels at night and in the morning. Maybe a unofficial quiet time within the resorts starting at a certain hour. Night time to early a.m. guest noise is probably my biggest pet peeve while staying at a hotel.

I'll have to join you in the annoyed crowd. It's not just at hotels either, we used to have these neighbors and I would cringe anytime I heard them pull into the drive, which was right outside my bedroom wondow. I swear these people never just shut any door, they would full force slam them. My sweet enjoyment came one day, coincidentally right after I said "I swear their doors are going to fall off one day" and guess what.... that was the day!
Yup... I got the satisfaction of watching out my window while the neighbor stood in total disbelief staring at his car door on the ground :rotfl2:

Thought I would share the funny. I'm a "shhhhh-sher". I'm all for having fun, but I try very hard when in places like hotels to be considerate.

I am not making excuse but because I am father of 3 small kids,(8,5,2),
I can deal with the noise of small kids, like baby crying in the middle of night.
Because I know it is hard to control. ( but if my DD5 and DD6 start crying or whining in the middle of night, they have to face to some consequences...;) In my family, they are old enought to behave in social situation ) However, I totally agree with you guys about adults, especially drunken adults.

Is this my 100th posting????

I totally agree.

We always end up next to "those people" as well. How difficult is it to let the door close gently?

It's also not a really bright idea to prop your door open in such a way that anyone passing by could open it.

I've posted about this before because I truly can't believe how rude and inconsiderate some people have become. The time that surpassed everything for me however was while walking down the long hall in the VWL there was a teenage boy and girl running, yelling, pushing past us and as I shushed them and reminded them that kids might be sleeping, as it was late, the father, who was with them, proceeded to curse me out! What a role model! Maybe we should all have to take a test at check in and then all of us who really are considerate could be grouped on the same floor. Ahhh, even the thought of that is like vacation heaven. And I agree with the parent about normal children's noise...that's certainly understandable and tolerable. It's the thoughtlessness and inconsideration that riles me.

Last year at the Poly, about a day before our departure a loud guest checked into our connecting room. She kept yelling at her children, for hours, around 11 PM I finally called the front desk. I mean YELLING at her children. "WELL< GET A DRINK IF YOU WANT ONE". "STOP DOING THAT." "LETS GET SOME FOOD."

Not yelling like she was mad, yelling like she doesn't know another way to talk! So irritating. I also hate it when people let their room doors slam. Why not just let it close quietly? If my children can do it, adults should be able to remember to do it!
