In the meantime since he has told me this i have had nothing but the worst thoughts all i can puicture is life without him , and my son growing up without a dad. I will admit i have a tendency to always think the worst so i will be a bundel of nerves and tears until i know different . so please give me some hope. i hate feeling this way.

Could just be an enlarged lymph node. Does he have a cold or sore throat? Allergies?

Absolutely, make him go to the doctor!

But do be prepared that it's almost certainly nothing serious, and your husband will go around for the next while saying, "I told you so."

There are LOTS of things that can cause the lymph gland under your arm to swell up. A cold. An infection. A pulled muscle (yeah, that happened to me once!). A cyst (just fluid collecting). Even if it IS a tumor, that doesn't mean it's likely to kill him. My mother had a tumor in her side when I was 10 - they took it out, no problem. A few years later she had one in her arm - again they cut it out and again no problem. That was twenty-nine years ago, and she's still healthy and driving me nuts on a regular basis.

So, don't jump to the worst conclusion right off the bat! It's probably nothing, but it's still good to get it checked out. Just in case.

Tell your husband to do it for YOU, because if he loves you, he'll be willing to humour you and give you that peace of mind.

Good luck!

Have him get it checked out- you guys will find out it's nothing to worry about and you'll all be able to breathe easy again!!

Of course it could be absolutely nothing! Please make him have it checked out.

You are making a pretty big leap on your diagnosis there. Sure have him get it checked out. You may have to entice him with with ice cream, or a big tv(just kidding). I am sometimes guilty of assuming the worst, but I think you can turn down the worry-ometer to low.:)

A lump under his arm is much more likely to be a cyst or a blocked sweat gland that anything else. Make him go to the Dr. And in the meantime, try to ::breathe::. It will be ok! :goodvibes

Make him go to the doctor but try not to worry too much. My DH gets boils all the time under his arms due to blocked sweat glands. They get large and very painful and I won't go into the nasty parts. Harmless but disgusting and eventually uncomfortable as they grow.

I sympathize with you. I know how it feels to have a husband "find" something and your mind just goes crazy. One piece of advice: Google is not your friend! Insist that your DH see a doctor, if for no other reason to set YOUR mind at ease. In all likelihood, this is a minor, completely benign thing. At worst, it's "something" and when you find out what it is, you will BOTH deal with it. If there is one thing I've learned it's don't do your grieving ahead of time. You are wasting time and energy on something that probably will not come to fruition. Get off the search engines and force yourself to be present in your life. If the news is not good, well, there will be plenty of time to be upset later. Just sayin', I've been there and done that and it didn't help a thing. :rolleyes1

When it comes to lumps in the underarm area, the doctors I work with recommend waiting 2 weeks. More often than not these turn out to be blocked sweat glands and go away after a little bit.

I have had a few of them and the two week time frame does seem to work out well. However, if after the two weeks the lump is still there, then I would make an appointment.
