Curious what you would do if asked to pull ahead at a fast food drive-thru when nobody is behind you? One of the places here in town has done this twice recently. Both times when I noted I was the only car in line, the person at the window informed me they do this to help their statistics. They must have a timer on the window and if I "pull ahead" they get to count that as a completed transaction. What would you do?

Pull ahead :confused3

I guess I'm not getting it... but that's nothing new :teeth:

Me three.

What's the big deal?

On a similar note, when there IS a line of people, why can't people freakin PULL AHEAD so that those behind them can reach the window to complete their transaction? There's nothing wrong with being up on somebody's bumper in a drive-thru line!

I'd pull ahead, though it does seem silly.

Once, at a local BK, they asked me to pull ahead...thing is, this drive thru was blocked in by concrete planters to the right...the people behind me still couldn't get out, cause the planters were in the way anyway! I would up driving back around the building.

I pull ahead. My mom refuses to and asks to buy something that is already prepared instead. By the time she gets done with them, her food is usually done.

Now I'm really confused... what do you mean by pull ahead? I'm picturing that you place your order and they ask you to pull ahead to pay and pick up your food... am I missing something? How else to you get your order :scratchin

I don't understand what the problem is either. Do you mean that they want you to place your order at the window where you normally pick up the food instead of at the microphone?

You mean like McDonald's when they tell you to park somewhere and they'll bring it out to you so they can get other people done at the same time? Until the food has left the building it's not a done deal so I don't get how that helps their statistics but whatever.

I understand it to mean that she has paid, but the food is not ready, so they asked her to pull ahead so they can keep the line moving, and they will bring her food out to her car. If there is noone behind her, why would she have to pull ahead? Just so they can say the transaction was completed in a timely manner, when it was not? It would irritate me, too, but I still will pull ahead.

Same here, since they haven't given the food its not a done deal :confused3

I've only been told to pull ahead when they are still cooking the fries

Sometimes when I "pull ahead" I really think they forget about you-I've seen a couple cars drive away with food & me just sitting there.

Instead of them handing you the food at the drive-thru window, they ask you to pull ahead to the parking lot so they can bring the food out to your car when it is ready. This is usually done so the cars behind you can get their food sooner if what they order is ready first. I have absolutely no problem with that. But, if there are no cars in line behind you, I would think the only thing pulling ahead accomplishes is allowing the restaurant to keep its drive-thru window average transaction time stats artificially low.

Sorry if I was unclear if my original post.

Now I understand... I wouldn't give them a hard time... I would be afraid they would spit in my food :p

The person working the window told me both times they are asked to do this to help their statistics, so they may very well count it as a done deal once the car leaves the window. No idea if this is a normal practice. Perhaps the local manager is looking to beef up his or her numbers?

I think she means from the first window to the second.
