please pray for this little boy

I don't ask for this often, but a dear family friend needs your prayer and good thoughts tonight. Little 8 year old Dakota is fighting for his life after being ran over by his stepmom tonight.

They were playing a "game" she played where he was standing behind the car, and she floored it and he ran out of the way. His foot slipped and she ran over him. She did not cll 911. The hospital called police after learning of the game.
She has ben arrested.

He has ben life flighted from a rural hospital to a childrens hospital in a coma with a brain bleed and swelling, multiple internal injuries, and numerous lacerations and abrasions. He is on life support.

Geez Louise....what kind of sadistic person could come up with that sort of game. Kind of like Russian Roulette without the gun. That stepmom deserves to be arrested.

Dakota's foot slipped. She admitted this. Today was not the first time she did this. Just the first time she got caught. He would run from behind the car and then run beside it until she let him in. His brothers are verifying this as they played it too. It was fun to them and they took turns and were told not to tell.

Oh, I kind of see now. I was visualizing this "game" with the car stopped in the driveway and he'd run across the driveway behind the car and she'd gun the engine.

I don't know if the Step mother had malicious intent or was severely lacking in judgment. But what is that saying? Ignorance is no excuse for breaking laws? I think she deserves the full measure of the law, no matter what the excuse.

How old is this "woman"?

OP, I'm so sorry for Dakota's loved ones to have to go through this. It must be such a strange mix of emotions.
Do you mind telling us what town this is in? I'd like to keep up with what happens to the stepmom. I've never heard of such a thing happening.

All I have to say about the looney toon mom is that she obviously knew she was in the wrong or she would have called 911. Heck, even if she hadn't run him over, the chase game just sounds like grown up therapy waiting to happen.
