Alyssa is the 18 yo dd of our family friends. She is such a precious girl and has a lot of faith too. She has been a 16 year leukemia and bone marrow transplant survivor and now she is having a heart transplant today. Please keep her in your prayers. Thank you.

It's upsetting enough with adults - but children or young adults? So not fair..

UPDATE: We had such a wonderful answer to prayer. Thank you all for your prayers, good wishes etc. Alyssas heart transplant went well. It was over 6 hours. Right now I think she is semi-concious and she is in the ICU, she iis on a respirator, tons of tubes etc. Now they are watching for the rejection and I think she is critical but so far all is going as well as can be expected, and she got a special surprise, Babe Ruth's granddaughter and one of the Yankees players visited her on Friday, I think this was before she knew she was having the transplant.

So just keep praying for her that she will get stronger each day and not reject her new heart.

We are also praying for the family who suffered such a great loss but has blessed this wonderful girl with a new life.

I'm glad Alyssa is doing well. Poor dear, she has been through so much. My own daughter, age 20, had a heart transplant when she was 6 weeks old. The heart she was blessed with has been going strong all these years. Just so you know, she may or may not have rejection but if she does there is a lot they can do to turn it around. My Laura has had rejection more times than I can count. IT IS VERY, VERY SCARY but not the end of the world. Hugs and prayers for all involved. Thank God for whoever donated the heart to Alyssa. Please keep us posted on how she's doing.

I hope that my illness (Fanconi Anemia) doesn't end up with me getting a bone marrow transplant (which is what would happen if, forbid, my marrow failed. So far, so good, 16 years into my life).
